Industrial Action

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take strike action on Tuesday 24 March 2026.

Based on the information provided to me, a large number of our staff are expected to take part in this industrial action. At this stage, we do not have confirmed numbers of participating staff. However, we wanted to provide families with as much advance notice as possible so you can begin considering any arrangements that may be required for your child/ren. As a consequence:

  • Students are not required to attend on this day. Families are encouraged to make alternative arrangements for their child/ren if they are able to do so.

  • If your child attends school on this day, there may be modifications to their normal program, and they may be supported by unfamiliar or replacement staff.

If this will cause you difficulties, particularly if you are a critical services worker, please complete the online form as soon as possible: https://forms.office.com/r/F5vKdgJDAy

As you are aware, all students at Jackson School have an intellectual disability and other high or complex needs. While we will make every effort to provide appropriate supervision arrangements, it is essential that we are able to maintain reasonable adjustments and safe supervision for all students and staff onsite.

If staffing levels prevent us from safely supervising all students for the full day, we may contact families and request you to collect your child/ren early.

Thank you for your flexibility, understanding and ongoing support. We recognise that situations such as this can present challenges for families, particularly when making care and work arrangements. Further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

Kind regards,

Anthony Jackson

Principal
