Leadership Report

Term 4, Week 3

Dear families and carers,

I have had the fortunate experience of spending a brief time here as Acting Principal at Williamstown North Primary School whilst Olivia is on Long Service Leave. It has been my pleasure to spend some time visiting classrooms and out in the yard interacting with students and staff. I have been made to feel very welcome.

Whilst the sizes of our schools differ, (Spotswood PS is about half the size of Williamstown North!), the spirit of learning and dedication to students is a familiar feeling. I am reminded of the universal passion that teachers have towards enriching children’s lives and their commitment to making school a positive experience.

Regional Athletics

Today a team of students headed off to compete at the Western Regional Athletic Championships. Competing at this level is a great achievement for this group of students who have made it through the district and division levels leading up to today. Mr Carroll attended with the students and was proud of their efforts and sporting spirit on display at the event today. Well done team!

Williamstown High Students

Yesterday a group of senior students from Williamstown High School came over to Willy North at lunch time to spend some time in the yard with students engaging in a variety of play activities. I watched as they played chess and other board games, grouped up shooting some hoops on the basketball court and did some drawing and colouring activities near the Butterfly Room. It was inspiring to watch these interactions and a great initiative building the partnership between schools. It was a positive experience for many Willy North students who will possibly attend there in the future.

Hats Reminder

Out on yard duty today I picked up quite a few hats from the ground, unfortunately they were not named so I wasn’t able to reunite them with their owners. (This is another familiar experience for me as it often happens at Spotty too!) It’s a timely reminder to make sure your children’s hats are named, after a number of washes (or sweaty lunch time play sessions!) even the strongest sharpie name can wear off.

Olivia will return on Monday 26th October and I will pop back to my school, just down the road. Thank you everyone who has made me feel welcome during my short visit here.

Kind regards,

Jackie Green.
