SPORTS NEWS

Hi all

It was a big week in interschool sports this week and we have more to come next week.

It started back on Monday when our Girl’s Hot Shot Tennis team travelled to Bentleigh to play in the Kingston District Hot Shots Tennis Finals.  They won all of their games including the Grand Final!  Well done to Jasmin, Charlotte, Eliana, Aria, Emily, Lillian Maddie, Zoe and the Big Jankowski!

On Thursday, our more senior girls competed in the Little Saints Cup against other local schools (pictured above).  We sent two teams, a Year 5 and a Year 6 team in what was our fifth year in a row.  The Saints AFLW team put on this great footy carnival for girls every year and this was our fifth year in a row.  There is plenty of competition but there’s also music, giveaways and our girls get to rub shoulders with these amazing athletes and fantastic role models to inspire our girls to be the best they can be.

Our Year 5s won 7 of their 8 games in their competition and the year 6s finished mid table in their comp.  Thank you Kellie and Deb for your coaching and support on the day.

Also on Thursday, Lucy and Alyssa travelled to the Lakeside Oval for the Vic State Athletics carnival.  Lucy won two gold and Alyssa won two bronze medals and came forth in another event.  Both girls qualify for Team Vic and will represent St Louis at the National Schools Athletics Carnival in Perth in December.  Well done to both families.

Next week, our boys cricket team will play in the South Metro Cricket Finals at Casey Fields.  On Friday morning (a 7.30am start mind you!), in a warm up game, they played a well trained and eager-to-win staff team.  The boys were told to bring their helmets.  Surprisingly, the students defeated the teachers in a great lead up to next week’s finals.  Player-of-the-Match and best dressed was Mr Sellers.

All of these events are only possible due to the support of our parent community.  The way they network and support our teams is phenomenal.  We can’t thank you enough.

Yours in Sport
