Religious Education

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe.

The care, safety and well-being of children and young people

It is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Congratulations to our Year 3 students who received the Sacrament of  Reconciliation for the first time. Reconciliation-a gift whereby we can always be reconciled with God and know that his compassion and mercy renews in us a clean heart. A gift that we can access time and time again to bring us closer to Jesus. God knows us as we are, in our strengths and our weaknesses. God supports us to do our best in our lives, but also forgives us when we fail.

He also asks us to be like Him and forgive others when we feel wronged.

As the Apostle Peter asks Jesus if he should forgive someone who sins against him up to seven times, thinking he is being generous.  Jesus replies "not seven times but 70 times 7" The number is symbolic, as a number that is inexhaustable. It teaches us that Christian forgiveness has no limit and mirrors the infinite mercy God shows to people.

Students were very reverent during the ceremony and participated beautifully with the songs and responses.

I do think the highlight of their celebration was reading the precious letters you wrote to your children. It even brought afew students to tears! I hope it is something they will always cherish and remember as part of their First Reconciliation

Thank you to Fr Michael, Father Peter and Fr Geoff who celebrated this sacrament with our students.
