Term 3 Week 1 17 July 2026

Hi Everyone,
Welcome back, Term 3 has begun in earnest this week and has been fantastic! I hope you had a truly wonderful holiday and are ready for all the things that unfold this term.
The first thing to unfold is CONGRATULATIONS CHAMBER STRINGS!!!!!! 😊 They have made the Fanfare State Finals!!!! HOW INCREDIBLE!! Congratulations to them and of course, to Mrs Trudy Weekes. I cannot wait to be there in the audience!
Today we celebrated our Preppies officially being ‘100 days Brighter,’ as they have completed 100 days of school! Congratulations to all of them. Beginning school is such a milestone but can also be an overwhelming time with so many new and unfamiliar things happening at once. Well done to our Preps, well done to our Prep Teaching Team and well done, of course, to all our prep parents!
Year 4 were also straight back into it today, with an incursion with author Mark Greenwood, which from all accounts they thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you so much to Mrs Annika Sauvage, our wonderful librarian, who organised this great incursion to support our children's learning straight away in Term 3.
Congratulations to our Prep to Year 3 Merit Certificate recipients for this week. They must have done some amazing things last term to be acknowledged so early this term.
Thank you to the beautiful Small Strings Ensemble who performed for us on assembly this week and truly brought music to our ears. The fact that they perform with no conductor never ceases to astound me!
The first of our Japanese schools who are visiting us, arrive tomorrow (Saturday). We will be welcoming Haga school in an official Welcoming Ceremony on Monday 20 July at 9:15am. This will be replacing our regular assembly. Next Saturday, our second visiting school will arrive, Sakai School. Thank you so much to Mrs Shelley Lee and our Japanese Study Tour Team for organising all of this, as well as all of you families who are hosting the children.
Religious Instruction also kicked off straight away this week, and I want to thank all our wonderful RI volunteers who come week in and week out, to present this important instruction.
Next week, Mrs Tara Griffin, is in the hot seat as the principal because I will be away in Canberra on the Year 6 Camp. I really look forward to camp (not the cold though!). I always find spending time with children on camps is such a privilege, it is a great way to get to know them in a different context.
We also have other excursions next week which will be going on. Year 5 classes will be going to the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre for that wonderful excursion there and, Year 4 will be going on their Zero Waste Excursion, which I know is always an amazing support to the learning that happens in Term 3 for Year 4.
The only trials that are on this term for Northern Eagles are the Track and Field Trials and they are next Wednesday and Thursday. All the very best to those children who are in these trials.
I would like to finish by welcoming some new staff to our team. Welcome to Ms Rebecca Hunter who is taking over the teaching of one of our Year 3 classes. We are very excited to have you Ms Hunter! We are also welcoming Ms Liegh Chadwick. Ms Chadwick is teaching the first 2 days of the week on a Year 2 class, whilst Mrs Simone Fitzgerald teaches the other 3 days. We are thrilled you have joined us Ms Chadwick.
It is so great to be back. I really look forward to this term but like always, I have no doubt it will fly.
