Assumption of Mother Mary

“Taken up into heaven Mary shows us the way to God,
the way to Heaven, the way of Life.”
Pope John Paul II
On August 15th we celebrate the Virgin Mary. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Holy Day of Obligation. Our school community will attend Mass on Friday August 14th at 10:15am to celebrate mass. All families are welcome to join us.
This Solemnity commemorates our Holy Mother, having completed her course of earthly life was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. Mary, the Mother of Jesus and of our Church, cooperated in God’s plan with complete faith and trust.
Mary is a sign of hope and mercy for us all. Mary’s model of discipleship gives us an example of the role our faith should take in our lives. If we centre our lives on the presence of God, we are more readily able to recognise the call of God in our everyday activities.
Mary’s assumption into heaven is a reminder to us that God has a plan and purpose for each of us.
God of all goodness,
We rejoice and are glad because Mary
shares in the glory of heaven with you.
May, we be nourished by
our sharing in your life and love,
So that we may live
with the same faith in you as Mary did.
We make this prayer in your name.
Amen.
