News from the Art Room
The children have been very busy working on many different projects in the art room this term.
P-2 completed their wide-mouthed frogs with blow out tongues. The children learnt how to fold and carefully seal the edges of their tongue so they would expand when they blew into their straws. They also made yarn wrapped butterflies. They really enjoyed exploring different yarn textures and discovered that yarn wrapping was actually very relaxing.
The Grade 3 and 4 children have been working hard to complete their Textured Bears. They have been learning about Implied Texture and practised using the techniques of hatching and stippling to create a hairy effect on their bears. Their finished bears look absolutely gorgeous in their colourful sweaters.
The Grade 5 and 6 children have been working on their Colour Wheel Eye painting. After drawing their colour wheel inside an eye, the children practised mixing the primary colours to make the secondary and tertiary colours. They then tried to match their skin colour by using varying amounts of the three primary colours and adding white. They’ve done such a careful job with these paintings and their eyes look amazing!
