Learning and Teaching Term 4

Term 4 What's happening at Holy Cross!
Term 4 is shaping up to be an exciting and busy time at Holy Cross, with plenty of opportunities for learning, leadership, community involvement and celebration.
Across the school, students are focusing on Geography, exploring places, environments and the world around them. Our P–2 and 3/4 students are looking forward to their excursion to Ballarat Wildlife Park, where they will deepen their understanding of animal habitats and the natural environment through hands-on experiences.
Our Year 5/6 students will have the opportunity to put their learning into action through the Social Justice Market, promoting compassion, generosity and care for others.
Students will continue to develop their reading and comprehension skills through engaging novel and text studies, exploring characters, themes, ideas and meaning across a range of texts suited to their year level. They will also explore mathematical concepts across various domains and participate in regular, explicit spelling and phonics lessons to strengthen their understanding of letter–sound relationships, spelling patterns and word structure.
As we move towards the end of the year, our faith journey will continue with the celebration of Advent, providing an opportunity for students to reflect on hope, peace, joy and love as we prepare for Christmas.
There will also be important opportunities for leadership and transition. Our Year 5 students will participate in Leadership Day, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to take on leadership roles within our school community.
Transition Days will support students as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey, building familiarity, confidence and excitement for the year ahead.
Finally, teachers will be working hard to complete Semester Two reports, reflecting on each student's growth, achievements and progress throughout the semester.
We look forward to a wonderful final term filled with meaningful learning experiences, new opportunities and special moments as we celebrate the year that has been at Holy Cross!
