Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Opening Mass and activities

Last Wednesday, Brigidine College, Our Lady Sacred Heart Kensington, St Clare’s Waverley, Corpus Christi, Marcellin College and St Ursula’s Kingsgrove attended the Reconciliation Church at La Perouse for a beginning of 2025 school mass. There were 130 students from all 6 schools. This was the first time we have celebrated with the other schools in a faith-driven experience. Father Brian Steele presided over our Mass and he was wonderful with the students, talking at their level and during the homily, he told us a story of when he was on sabbatical in Cairns. The students were very engaged with the Mass.

Following the Mass, the students enjoyed lunch at the park. Then, we made our way down to Yarra House, where we enjoyed activities set up and led by the La Perouse Youth Haven.

It was a day of celebration, learning and unity, bringing together students from different schools to honour culture and community,

This event will become an annual tradition for our school.
