It’s been a busy sporting term for our Year 5 & 6’s, with the Winter Sport season finishing off with the three representative sports tournaments. Two weeks ago we had our girls and boys soccer teams head to Caulfield Park for a massive day of round-robin games.  Both teams developed as a team over the day, with some great skills on display, however both teams were unable to make the finals. A special thank you to the two parent coaches; Chad T. and Adrian M. for helping Miss Bourke and Mrs Norton coach the teams over the day.

Last week our representative netball teams also had a great day of games at the Dendy LP Netball tournament at the Duncan McKinnon courts.  We’d like to thank parents Ange Tiet, Sarah Grace and Kellie Anderson for helping support our teams and umpiring for us over the day.  Our teams all had a great day of round-robin games.  Our A Grade Girls did themselves proud and played well over the day, coming away with a couple of wins, but not enough to get them into the finals. Our B Grade Girls team also came together really well over their round robin games, with a few wins and a couple of losses. This team made the Semi finals, however couldn’t manage to out-score the strong St Mary’s Hampton team, who ended up winning the grand final.  Our A Grade Boys team also had a brilliant day of games, winning all barr 1 game and also 1 draw.  After the round games, this boys team placed 2nd and in a nail-biting semi-final, were able to win against Galilee by 2 late match-winning goals!  Unfortunately in the Grand Final, despite giving it their best, St. Mary’s Hampton proved a little too strong for them however.  A big thanks to Miss Lennon and Mrs Thompson for taking these teams to this event as well.

Our footballers also had a great day out last Friday at Darling Park playing in their Lightning Premiership football tournament.  Mr Tyndall and Baden extremely impressed with their squad of 25 members, who over the day, played well as a team, sharing the ball around, going in hard for the ball and giving it their best.  The team were able to make it through to the semi-finals, however unfortunately came up against the very strong and tall St. Joan of Arc team and lost.  Congratulations to St. Joan of Arc who won the grand final and now represent our Dendy District at the Beachside Playoffs.

IT’S TIME FOR HOOPTIME!

The time has come! Tomorrow is a very exciting day for our Senior HoopTime teams, with our 62 players heading off to Nunawading stadium to play in their HoopTime basketball tournament. We have seven teams playing, with numerous parents helping, along with attending staff; Mr Tyndall, Miss Bourke, Miss Hill and Baden Turner.  We look forward to hearing how they go.

Next term in Week 2, it’s our Year 3 & 4’s turn.  Mrs Thompson is running a final trial next week for the girls and boys that are trialing; and will announce teams before the holidays.  We require the support of many parents; so please lock in this date now, to offer your help for this fun day: scorers and coaches/team managers. Good luck to all the students that are trialing for these teams!

It’s getting serious now with our  32 Year 5 & 6 students involved in the Aeroschool Aerobics program, being only 5 or so weeks away from their performance!  It’s been amazing to see them so focused during their training in the hall on a Tuesday.  The girls are connecting well and working hard to refine their movements within their set routine.  We cannot wait to see them in their amazing leotard outfits that have just been ordered by all families.  Keep up the great work girls!
