Principal's Message

As you are aware, I will be taking up a short secondment as Acting Principal at St Christopher’s Catholic Primary School, Holsworthy for Term 3, 2026. I look forward to returning to St Anthony’s at the beginning of Term 4.

During my absence, Mrs Marie Iorfino will step into the role of Principal and Mrs Leanna Langlands will take on the role of Assistant Principal. Both are trusted, capable leaders who will continue to guide our school with care and a strong focus on every child.

As we end Term 2, I would like to thank you for your support, enthusiasm and feedback throughout the term. We have had a wonderful term enriched with many engaging learning and teaching experiences and opportunities, filled with many examples of faith, fun and learning. For your attendance and support at events throughout the term, we thank you. 

Our action packed Term 2 included: Walk-a-thon, Djalgala - Dabura NAIDOC Week Celebration, Mothers Day Liturgy and Morning Tea, Kids Giving Back, World Environment Day, ANZAC DAY liturgy, Assemblies, Stage 2 & 3 Oz Tag & Soccer Gala Days, Amadeus Extension Ensemble, SCS Cross Country Carnival, Semester One Reports, Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences, Class Masses, Athletics Carnival, Public Speaking Presentations, St Anthony's Feast Day, National Simultaneous Story Time, National Sorry Day, SCS Dance, Drama & Choir Eisteddfod, Our Lady Help of Christians Mass, Kinder - Symbio Excursion, Faith and Fun Celebration with John Burland, Winter Sleepout, SPaR - Stop, Pray and Reflect K, 1 & 2, Netball, Amadeus Concert, Eisteddfod Performance for Parents & Gastronomy Presentations. 

Working together is what continues to build our strong community. Our wonderful students return at the beginning of Term 3 after a well earned break on Tuesday 21 July.

Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right:

to be witnesses of our faith.

Help us to see the face of Christ in others these holidays,

to give time and effort to help others.

To be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities;

give us good rest and good fun.

Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.

St Anthony’s Feast Day: A Wonderful Celebration of Faith, Community and Joy

We commenced our St Anthony’s Feast Day with a beautiful Mass celebrated by Father Kimi, who joined us for our very first school Mass at St Anthony’s. It was a special moment for our community as we gathered in prayer to honour our patron saint and reflect on his example of love and service.

Following Mass, we announced the prize winners for both the Walk‑a‑thon fundraising and the St Anthony’s Drawing Competition, celebrating the creativity, effort and generosity of our students. 

The excitement continued with our Walk‑a‑thon, where students, staff and parents embraced the sunny weather and set off together past Burrows Park, Clovelly Beach and the surrounding areas before returning to school. The spirit of community was alive and well, with children laughing, chatting and enjoying the morning as they walked through our beautiful local area. A refreshing Zooper Dooper treat and bread awaited everyone on their return, followed by an afternoon filled with fun St Anthony’s Activities, which the children absolutely loved.

What a fabulous day it was, a celebration of faith, joy and togetherness in true St Anthony’s style.

We are also incredibly grateful to all the families who contributed to our fundraising efforts. Every dollar raised brings us closer to providing new books and resources for our classrooms. Your generosity and community spirit are truly appreciated.

Thank you to the parents who recently completed the ‘Tell Them From Me’ survey. We look forward to seeing the data generated from this survey in order to provide the best possible Catholic education for your child and to better support you as the primary educators of your children. P/T/S Conferences

It was wonderful to see so many parents arriving for their Parent/Teacher/Student conferences and speaking so positively about their child’s progress, so realistically about their child’s challenges and so warmly about their child’s teacher. I certainly welcome your feedback regarding any aspect of the P/T/S conferences. 

Parents and teachers are both vital and critical to the wellbeing and development of our children and we must always work together to make the most of children’s learning and to nurture their talents. 

Our teachers spend the ‘9 to 3’ part of the day with the children, facilitating their learning. Countless hours aside from this time are then spent each day correcting and assessing the student’s work planning lessons, preparing resources, meeting with support teachers to discuss children’s needs, professional development to continually improve the quality of their teaching, regular meetings with parents to discuss children’s progress, staff meetings, organising excursion opportunities, carnivals and many, many more while, at the same time, juggling their own family lives and finding time for reflection and self renewal. 

My appreciation and thanks to you as parents for your valuable role as the primary educators of your child and to the teachers, a dedicated team of professionals who give so generously of their self, skills and time. Improving the learning outcomes for all children at STA is our core business. The children are our first priority. This is a great Catholic school that has helped produce not just well educated young adults, but compassionate people who, because of their faith, confidently embrace a future with hope and joy. I hope that you are as proud to be a part of this community as I am. 

Celebration of Faith and Fun

On Monday 22 June, we had the pleasure of welcoming John Burland, Cheryl Fernandez and Anthony Costa to St Anthony’s Church for a beautiful celebration of Faith and Fun. Students from Kindergarten to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6 were fully engaged as they sang, listened and learned through music, movement and storytelling. The presenters shared powerful messages from Scripture, including the inspiring life of St Carlo Acutis and the Emmaus Story, helping our children connect faith with joy in a meaningful and memorable way.

It was wonderful to see our students’ faces light up as they joined in the songs and reflected on the stories. Their enthusiasm filled the church and created a truly uplifting atmosphere for all.

A heartfelt thank you to John, Cheryl and Anthony for bringing such energy, warmth and faith-filled fun to our community. It was a celebration we will remember with gratitude.

We are pleased to share that our next Open Day will be held on Monday 29 June from 9–10am. This is another wonderful opportunity for prospective families to visit our classrooms, meet our staff and experience the warm, welcoming community that makes St Anthony’s so special. We invite our parent community to help spread the word to friends, neighbours and families who may be considering a school for their children. Your support plays an important role in showcasing the great things happening at our school.
