Classroom Snapshot

Year 5 Camp Manyung:

Last week our Year 5 students attended a 3 day camp to Mount Eliza at Camp Manyung. It was wonderful to see our students embracing new experiences and supporting one another throughout the camp. Here are some of their reflections on this memorable adventure:

I loved the giant swing because it was scary and fun at the same time. It felt like I was flying. I also liked the bush cooking especially marshmallows! Going down to the beach was fun because we found sea glass and shells (Rock Pool Ramble). It was my birthday on camp and the teachers got me a birthday cake! EJ

Camp Manyung was mostly fun. I have complaints about the cabin residents, but that’s not The Y’s fault. My favourite part was the Rock Pool Ramble, because I got a lot of cool collections from the beach. EB

The thing that I liked the most about camp was the giant swing and the tree top challenge. Ellira

My Camp experience was amazing! My favourite part was facing my fears and going to the top of the giant swing. It was the best thing EVER! I also loved the treetop challenge because you go so high in the sky. Camp was great and I had a blast. Ashlea

Some of my favourite things at Camp Manyung were spending time with my friends, having fun in our cabins, doing outdoor activities with my group, going on the giant swing and watching Mrs Auld on the flying fox, as well as Mrs Saville and Mrs Munro having a turn on the giant swing. Bronson

It was really fun at camp! We got to do a lot of different activities. They were: the giant swing, flying fox, bush cooking, orienteering, rock pool ramble and a  treetop challenge! The staff there were really nice and made me feel welcome. I think the best parts of camp were doing the giant swing, the flying fox, rock pool ramble and just being around my friends. Greta

My favourite part was seeing Mrs Saville and Mrs Munro going on the giant swing and Ms Auld going on the flying fox and of course they all screamed! Charlotte

I liked the giant swing, I went whee whee and I felt like gen-alpha when I got lifted up into the sky. I did enjoy the flying fox because it went speedy. I relished the dinners because they were delectable and left me satiated afterwards. I savoured the marshmallows in bush cooking and I liked the humble abode’s cabin rooms because they had bunk beds. MS

CAMP WAS FUN!!!!!!!! My favourite part was the giant swing! Braxton

Camp was fun, especially the giant swing, flying fox and the rock pool ramble. The food was nice and the staff at the place were nice and welcoming. The activities were the best. I know I already said that, but I really do think so! My favourite part was probably being with my friends and the activities. Emily

At camp we did lots of fun activities. I liked the giant swing. The cabin was fun too with my friends. Edith

I liked the giant swing because it was fun. The flying fox was fun but it was too short. I also liked the rock pool rumble because I got shells. Jackson

Year 4 Mater Christi and  St Joe's Taster Day:

Our Year 4 students recently enjoyed a half-day visit to our local Catholic secondary schools, with the girls attending Mater Christi and the boys attending St Joseph's. They were invited to participate in a taster day, giving them an opportunity to experience life at secondary school. Here are some of their reflections:

Mater Christi was fun because we did fun activities and it was so cool to see another school. Molly

My time at Mater Christi was very fun.We got to make slime play with robots and a whole school tour monopoly game. We even got given a lock and had to figure out the combination! Lily

We went to the science lab and made some slime. Mine was blue and glittery. This was definitely my favourite activity we did. Kaley

I really liked when we did a game and we picked a place on a monopoly board, the Mater Christi version. I got a great look at the school when we did it and I also realised how big the school is! I am very glad I went, it was so fun! Mataya

We had a tour of the school. It was HUGE! Finally, we tried to unlock locks and I failed miserably. All in all it was really fun!! Sophia

After making slime we went around the school and one of the students showed us around. At the end we got a bag and it had putty! It was fun! Ellie

We played with big robots and used the Ipads. We could move them. It is a very big school. I had fun. Lucy

St Joe's was a great experience and they had lots of fun activities. I liked science, music, sport and more. I learnt lots of things that day. Lincoln

St Joe’s was really fun. We got to launch paper rockets and play three bounce. We did heaps of activities like music, sport and science. We all loved it. It was the best! SR
