From the Principal

Veterans' Morning Tea

It is always a good weekend when the two WA AFL teams are victorious!

Another highlight this past weekend was HBF Run for a Reason. This is Perth's biggest annual fitness fundraising challenge which has brought over 30,000 people together annually since 2010. Each year, thousands of participants choose a charity and fundraising goal to run, walk, or wheel towards. Powered by kindness, HBF puts on an event that allows West Aussies to raise vital funds for important charities close to their heart. A measure of the event's success is that it has helped raise more than $11 million over 11 years, for over 200 charities.

HBF Run for a Reason | Team JWACS raised $800 for Telethon Speech & Hearing

For its 12th year, HBF Run for a Reason 2024 aimed to raise over $1.2 million for charities. John Wollaston fielded a team comprising approximately 40 students, parents and staff to raise money for Telethon Speech and Hearing, our valued partner, which offers transformational educational programs for children and young people who have hearing loss or language disorders. It was a great day and my thanks to all who represented our community on Sunday.

John Wollaston's New Principal

The announcement this week of the appointment of The Reverend Tim Russell, as the third Principal of John Wollaston Anglican Community School, concludes a lengthy, formal process to recruit my replacement. I have rung Tim to congratulate him on his appointment and wish him great success when he commences duty on 1 January 2025. This is an exciting time for the School and I know Tim is greatly looking forward to getting to know students, staff, parents and the wider community. I urge you to welcome him most warmly when he arrives.

With best wishes

Anne Ford
