Our term continues to quickly race by. We have now passed the halfway mark of the term and it has been great to hear about the wonderful learning taking place in our classrooms. A special mention goes to the large number of students who have really focused on displaying our school values and are working hard each and every day to display them.

Reconciliation Week (27th May to 3rd June)

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

We will be commencing our acknowledgement of Reconciliation Week at assembly tomorrow when our senior indigenous students will present the activities we will be engaging in throughout Reconciliation Week and explain some of the symbols visible in the schools Indigenous Garden. Throughout Reconciliation Week we will be having:

our first student indigenous group meeting with all student members across the school on Monday 27th May, as we have only met with our senior student group members so far this year.
a launch of storytime for students in our Indigenous Garden on Wednesday 29th May (second break), which will then be held weekly.
Indigenous story telling activities with each class.
a “Sea of Hands” installation that all classes will engage in.
our second Indigenous family’s session in the garden on Thursday 30th May after school.

We would like to thank Ms. Collier, Whaea, Mrs. Gibbons and Marium for their work with our student Indigenous Group and their families so far this year and their organisation of the events we will be having throughout Reconciliation Week.

Education Week

Thank you to all our families and friends who came to school to celebrate Education Week during our open sessions last week. The children really loved having the community in to celebrate what is happening at school. It was great to see so many families attend and engage in the learning that is currently happening in all learning areas!

Parking Around the School

We understand the traffic concerns and issues around our school, however as a community can we be mindful and show respect to our neighbours when dropping off and picking up your child/ren? Please ensure you are not blocking driveways or parking unsafely and that you abide by the signage and road rules around our school.

Crazy Hair Day

Our Year 5 community fundraiser for this term is a CRAZY HAIR OR HAT Day, which is being held this Monday 27th May for all students (except Year 2s as they have swimming). Our Year 2 children will be participating on Tuesday 28th May instead. All funds raised will be going to State Schools' Relief, who support families with school uniform vouchers.

A friendly reminder that there will be no school on Monday 10th June 2024 (Kings Birthdays Public Holiday) and Monday 15 July 2024 (Curriculum Day - care will be available through QB).

Annual Report

Each year every government school publishes an 'Annual Report to the School Community', which is a comprehensive document that shares important data and information about the school over the previous 12 months. This was presented to School Council earlier this term and ratified. Later this term, the final Report will be confirmed by the Department of Education and Training and then it will be shared with the school community and put onto our website as a celebration and sharing of the strengths, successes (and areas for improvement) of our school.
