Principal's Message

TERM 2 SEMESTER 1

 Bonjour à tous.

BRUMLEY STREET CROSSING

There are parents/guardians parking in the driveway entry to the carpark nearest the school crossing on Brumley to drop off/pick up  children.   This is not an acceptable drop off or pick up point.

There are 2 driveways into the carpark from Brumley Street.  Please do not park/stop in any of those driveways.  We ask that you do not use the first driveway closest to the crossing when the 'Children's Crossing' flags are out please.

A reminder of the Crossing Parking Rules

From the South Gippsland Shire website Understanding the Rules

at a School Crossing

Drivers must take responsibility for parking safely at all times, especially around school crossings.

When driving near school crossings:

  • Please keep the children's crossing clear.
  • Parking is not allowed 20 metres before a school crossing or 10 metres after the crossing (unless otherwise signposted). Parking within this area makes it difficult for children and the crossing supervisor to get a clear view of the road.
  • It is illegal to double-park your car (i.e. you are not allowed to stop next to a parked car). visibility for supervisors and children.

Seasons For Growth - Next term, we are once again offering Seasons for Growth. This is an evidence based peer support program which supports children who have experienced significant, grief, loss or change in their lives. Emily Sherriff will be facilitating this program with students from 5/6 over 8 weeks on a Friday afternoon, before lunch.  On the weeks where there is Winter Sports, this will change to a Tuesday. If you would like your child to be involved, please contact Emily prior to start of Term 2 at esherriff@stlleongatha.catholic.edu.au to talk through your child's particular circumstances and needs.

Head Lice There has been a case of head lice reported accross all areas.  This is a timely reminder to all families to please check your child's hair tonight and treat if necessary.  If you do come across any evidence of head lice, ensure that ALL EGGS have been removed, otherwise reinfestation will continue to occur.  When treating please ensure that you treat all bedding, hats, pillows, hair ties etc as well with a hot wash/tumble dry.

Thank you to all the families who are trying to keep on top of these annoying pesty outbreaks.  If everyone remains vigilant and continues to regularly check and treat when necessary, and ensures ALL eggs are removed, we should be able to break the cycle and reduce the spread.

Please visit www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au and search for head lice (nits)" for advice on finding, treating and preventing head lice.
