Keith Street Pedestrian Crossing
The supervised pedestrian crossing on Keith Street is open!
This is a wonderful safety measure for our community. The crossing will be supervised each school morning from 8am – 9am and again in the afternoon from 3pm – 4pm.
We have spoken to our students about listening to and following the crossing supervisor’s instructions.
The following points are directly from Transport Victoria.
Children’s crossing:
When travelling towards a children's crossing, you must drive at a speed so that you can stop safely.
At a crossing which has 'Children crossing' flags you must:
- stop if a pedestrian is on or is about to step on the crossing, even if there is no crossing supervisor
- not go until the pedestrian has left the crossing
- stop if a hand held stop sign is displayed at the crossing.
Thanks to our parent group for initiating the pedestrian crossing proposal and working alongside Kingston Council to deliver this outcome.
We will continue working to make the arrival and departures at school as safe as possible.
