Principal's Report

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” — Benjamin Franklin
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope everyone enjoyed a well-earned and relaxing school holiday break and is ready for another exciting term ahead at Monash SDS.
The excitement this week has been centred around the arrival of our school chickens! The eggs arrived on Monday, and the buzz has been building ever since as they’ve been hatching daily – only four more to go! Once all have hatched, we’ll be keeping four chickens at school. They’ll become part of our ongoing animal learning programs, with the eggs used in our cooking program and the chickens' helping students learn about animal care and responsibility.
Our little farm family is growing – we’ll soon be welcoming a new rabbit companion for Patrick! Over the next few weeks, students will have the fun job of helping to name the chickens and the new rabbit, so stay tuned for updates.
There was also great excitement today during our Rockpool Incursion, where students had the opportunity to explore and discover some incredible sea creatures up close. Photos will be shared soon!
It’s shaping up to be a wonderful term full of hands-on learning and joyful experiences.
Warm regards,
Lindy Abernethy
Principal
