Dear parents, families and friends,
We have come to the end of Term 3. What an extremely busy, productive, exciting and amazing term it has been. Below is a snap shot and summary of the past month.
Father's Day Breakfast
On Friday 4th September we held our annual Father's Day Breakfast. This year, to try something different, we were very lucky to have Matthew 'Richo' Richardson join us for a meet and greet. Former parent Matt Granland conducted a chat onstage with Richo which started with a Q & A from our students with some hard hitting questions that were reminiscent of Sam's Drip Tray from the Front Bar and finished with open questions from our dad's. Richo then made himself available to sign autographs and take pictures with our families. A delicious breakfast was once again prepared and served by our Parents and Friends Committee.
Interschool Summer Gala
I had the opportunity to attend the Summer Gala at Yarraville West and coach two of the volleyball teams. I was very impressed with the way in which our students represented our school and how they displayed a positive attitude, teamwork, encouragement and fair play. You can read more about the Summer Gala Day on the Specialists Page.
Building Update
Work is continuing to progress. A few major milestones have been achieved over the last month. The roof has been replaced and new box gutters and downpipes installed. The storm water plumbing has been upgraded to cope with the increased water leaving the building. The slab for the lift shaft has been poured and the steel lintels have been installed into the enlarged door opennings.
Twilight Market
Our Twilight Market on the evening of the 28th August was a huge success. The Balloon Pop competition, Lucky Dip, Ice Cream, Cake & Sweets stalls were all hugely popular. Friendship bands sold out very quickly. The food vans provided hot, yummy food to keep us warm and sustained during the evening. Thank you to Gone Westerly for providing the musical ambience to lift our spirits and keep us entertained with the Flash Mob Dance performed by our students. In the end we raised $1800 dollars towards new library furniture.
School Concert
Last night we held our bi-annual school concert. The theme this year was 'A Symphony of Stories' to tie in with Book Week earlier in the term. What an amazing night it was. Each performance blew me away. I was so proud of our students in learning their songs, lines and dance moves off by heart. A special mention needs to be made of Stella and James, our School Arts Captains who spent hours upon hours preparing for the concert and then on the night, truly stole the show. The took us on a journey through each story providing their insights and humour throughout.
Comic & Graphic Novels 2nd Hand Donations
We have recently started a Comic & Graphic Novel Club at lunchtimes on Wednesdays. This club is for students to read, share, swap and talk about comics and graphic novels. If any families have or know of anyone who has 2nd hand comics and graphic novels that they nolonger need and would like to donate to our club, then these would be greatly appreciated. The only requirement is that any comics and graphic novels need to be age appropriate.

I will be absent during weeks 1 and 2 of Term 4. I am taking some well overdue Long Service Leave to spend 3 weeks overseas in Hong Kong and Japan with my family. The plan includes visiting Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Tokyo. With my family being big Disney fans and my wife's goal to visit all Disney Parks in the world, our trip will include visiting Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea.
