We come to the end of a very significant Term 1 of 2026:

A very quick list of events includes -

Yr 7 Camp;
Orientations of new students;
Swimming, Cross Country Sports;
Summer Sports;
Morrisby for Year 9;
Naplan for Year 7 and 9;
PAT testing of all students;
VET Cooking event;s
Students are now well on their way through Unit 1 and Unit 3 of VCE;
Value Week activities.

Time now for a catch up between students, parents and teachers with Interim reports being published and Parent Teacher Conferences on the Tuesdauy, 21st April. Reminder, Pupil Free Day.

Information is distributed through XUNO regarding the booking process for these sessions.

Please take advantage of these sessions as an opportunity for dialogue and setting up plans for the remainder of the Semester.

This week we have welcomed Sara Lukorito to our School. She has come from Kenya and is an experienced Mathematics and Science teacher. There have been some delays in her arrival but we now welcome her to the community of Kerang and our School.

With more positions now filled the School is in a good position, staffing wise, moving forward for the remainder of the year. There will be an updated timetable for the start of Term 2 as a result.

Recently also we have welcomed Carly Ettershank to the school as our Mental Health Practitioner. This role has been a vacant for quite a while and now enables a very extensive Wellbeing program supporting students across Tier 1 to 3 intervention strategies.

This week our Ms Sutcliffe and the Yr 12 Vocational Major students have been assisting with Blaze Aid this week in Eurora. This fits into their Personal Development unit and showcases their skills to the wider community. Well done.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Easter break to recharge and hope to see everyone back on the 20th April.

We are currently inviting parent nominations for School Council and warmly encourage you to consider becoming involved. Joining School Council is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the direction and future of our school. It is especially exciting at this time, as we continue to grow and develop with the addition of new buildings and ongoing improvements. Your voice, ideas and perspective as a parent are incredibly valuable as we navigate these changes together.

WHAT IS A SCHOOL COUNCIL AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. They are legally constituted bodies that are given powers to set the key directions of a school within statewide guidelines. In doing this, a school council is able to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.

WHY IS PARENT MEMBERSHIP SO IMPORTANT?

Parents on school councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school.

DO I NEED SPECIAL EXPERIENCE TO BE ON SCHOOL COUNCIL?

Each member brings their own valuable life skills and knowledge to the role. What you do need is an interest in your child's school and the desire to work in partnership with others to help shape the school's future.

HOW LONG IS A TERM Of OFFICE?

Two years with half of the members retiring each year which creates vacancies for the annual school council elections. Meetings are held the third Monday of every month.
