NOTICE – CALL FOR PARENTS & FRIENDS MEMBERS

Parents & Friends Association – St Mary of the Angels GUYRA

St Mary of the Angels School warmly invites parents, carers, parishioners and friends of the school to become members of our Parents & Friends Association.

The Parents & Friends Association plays an important role in supporting our students, strengthening the partnership between families, school and parish, and helping to build a welcoming and connected school community. Members assist through encouragement, participation, and fundraising initiatives that support student wellbeing and are aligned with the school’s strategic direction and bound by the Armidale Catholic Schools Parents and Friends Constitution and the policies and procedures that govern our school.

No prior experience is required — all are welcome, including parents of current students, grandparents, former parents, alumni and community members who wish to support the school.

All members are required to complete a Volunteer Induction and hold a current Working With Children Check (Volunteer) prior to participating in Association activities. Support will be provided to assist volunteers with this process.

An information meeting / Annual General Meeting will be held to welcome new members and outline opportunities for involvement.

Date: 16th March 2026

Time: 6:00 pm

Location: St Mary of the Angels School

For further information, please contact the School Office or Principal Mrs Zoe Nugent on 02 67791661 or guyadmin@arm.catholic.edu.au

Bus Safety Week

As part of our Be Bus Aware Campaign, Bus Safety Week will run from Monday 23 February to Sunday 1 March.

The week aims to raise awareness among all road users on how to stay safe on and around buses, helping to reduce injuries and fatalities.

Helpful resources include -  Bus Safety Week activity ideas for schools which has been published on the Safety around schools webpage.

School Supervision

Please ensure that your child is not arriving to school prior to 8.30am or being collected from school after 3.20pm. Outside of these hours, school staff will not be available to supervise students.

Students who arrive after 8:50am will need to be signed in by Parents at the Front Office, if this doesn't occur parents will receive an unexplained notification for late attendance. Thank you for signing your child in if they are late, as this ensures our attendance records are accurate.

School Attendance

When your child is absent without explanation, you will receive an SMS and email from the school.  You can explain planned absences in advance by writing an email or phoning the school. Absences of more than 10 days require a form to be filled out to apply for "Extended Leave" which requires approval from the Principal.
