Spotlight on Stage 1!

Stage 1 students have had a fantastic start to the year, settling quickly into classroom life and demonstrating a strong understanding of our school expectations. From the very beginning, Miss Outridge focused on establishing clear routines, consistent structures and positive learning behaviours to support student success.

Classrooms are calm, purposeful and engaging, with students confidently transitioning between activities and taking responsibility for their learning. A strong emphasis has been placed on building respectful relationships, fostering independence and creating safe, supportive learning environments where all students feel valued.

It has been wonderful to see students responding so positively to these high expectations and classroom routines. This strong foundation has set Stage 1 up for a successful and productive year of learning, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth as the year progresses.

Learner Led Conferences

Our Learner Led Conferences were recently held throughout this week and provided a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their learning goals.

Throughout the conferences, students confidently identified areas they are continuing to develop. It was wonderful to see students take ownership of their learning, demonstrating pride in their efforts and an understanding of their individual goals.

Families played an important role in the process, engaging in meaningful conversations with their children and celebrating their successes. The positive partnerships between students, families and teachers highlighted our shared commitment to supporting every child’s learning journey.

Thank you to all families who attended and supported their children during these conferences. Your involvement makes a significant difference in strengthening student confidence, motivation and success at school.

We were incredibly proud of the way our students presented themselves and the maturity they showed in discussing their learning.

Commencement of MultiLit Intervention Programs

This week saw the commencement of a range of targeted MultiLit intervention programs to support students in developing strong foundational literacy skills. These programs include InitiaLit, MiniLit, and MacqLit, and are designed to provide explicit, systematic instruction tailored to students’ individual learning needs.

Students participating in these programs work in small groups and engage in structured lessons focused on key areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension. The programs aim to build confidence and accelerate progress in literacy through consistent, evidence-based teaching practices.

We are pleased with the positive engagement shown by students as the programs began and look forward to seeing continued growth over the coming weeks. These interventions complement classroom teaching and form an important part of our commitment to ensuring every student receives the support they need to succeed.

We thank our staff for their dedication in delivering these programs and our families for their ongoing support in reinforcing learning at home.

Parent Learning Walks and Talks

When: Monday 9th March

Time: 9.30am

Focus: Reading

A Learning Walk & Talk involves small groups of parents visiting a number of classrooms for short periods of time. During the walk, you may observe student engagement, classroom routines, learning intentions, and the strategies teachers use to support students. The focus is not on individual children, but on our whole-school practices and how we create effective learning environments.

Following the classroom visits, we come together for a brief discussion. This is an opportunity to reflect on what you noticed, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of our teaching approaches and school priorities.

Learning Walks help strengthen the partnership between home and school by providing insight into how learning looks across our classrooms. We look forward to sharing this experience with you and continuing to work together to support every child’s growth and success.
