Holiday Works
I am excited to share that an enormous amount of work has taken place across the school during the holiday break, and Mitcham Primary School is looking fantastic in readiness for Term 3.
Our carpets have been professionally steam cleaned, and our Art Room has undergone a complete refurbishment, making it an even more inspiring and vibrant space for creativity. Our Prep students are now enjoying a beautiful new reading nook at the Prep entrance, creating a welcoming space that will help foster a love of reading from the very beginning of their school journey.
Around the school, several new outdoor seating areas have been concreted and will soon have upon them new tables and chairs, including in the grassed space between the BER Building and the Multipurpose Room, and near the Grade 5/6 Adventure Playground and Sports Field. These spaces provide additional opportunities for outdoor learning, collaboration and connection.
We are also excited to see our brand-new cricket pitch nearing completion, which will provide students with a safer and more enjoyable space for cricket. Adding to these improvements, today, we took delivery of the two new soccer goals for our grassed play area, providing even more opportunities for students to be active during recess, lunchtime and PE lessons, we hope to have these set up and fully ready to go on Monday.
A huge thank you to our Parents and Friends Fundraising Team for their incredible support in making these exciting additions possible. I would also like to acknowledge the amazing work of our Facilities Manager, Adrian, who coordinated and managed these projects throughout the school holidays. These improvements would not have been possible without Adrian's dedication, knowledge and unwavering commitment to ensuring the very best learning environment for our Mitcham Primary School community. His efforts have ensured that our students and staff have returned to a school that is refreshed, enhanced and ready for another fantastic term of learning.
We are still awaiting updates from the Victorian School Building Authority regarding the issue we have discovered with the roof above the Teacher Resource Room and the reinstatement of plaster in the PAC following the recent termite investigation. I will continue to keep our School Council and community informed as these matters progress.
School Council Open Meeting
A reminder that our annual School Council Open Meeting will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm in the School Library.
All parents and carers are warmly invited to attend. During this meeting I will formally present our 2025 Annual Report to the School Community, highlighting our school's achievements, student outcomes, financial performance and the many successes we have celebrated over the past year. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our school's progress and the work that continues to support outstanding outcomes for our students. We would love to see many members of our community there. Please RSVP to Mitcham.ps@education.vic.gov.au if you will be attending.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Mitcham Primary School. I look forward to another wonderful term filled with learning, growth and opportunities for every student.
