Last week, our VCE VM students cooked up a storm in the Food Tech kitchen, preparing dishes for Friday's staff morning tea.

The students made a variety of savoury pastries and sweet treats including, sausage rolls, pin wheels, cupcakes, truffles and cookies, as well as jelly, caramel and Mars Bar slice.

With their teamwork on display, the task was a great hands-on opportunity, allowing the class to put their literacy and numeracy skills to good use. Students were encouraged to read their recipes thoroughly before weighing and measuring their ingredients, to avoid any unnecessary mistakes.

Amid plenty of smiles and laughter and with lots of learning along the way, each item came together to create a mini feast, which was well received and immensely appreciated by all staff who were fortunate to sample the delicious spread.
