Science Week 

It has been a supercharged Science Week at CGPS, with plenty of curiosity, investigating and hands-on STEM fun happening across the school!

One of the biggest sources of excitement has been our three newest (and tiniest!) CGPS students. We have been patiently watching our three chrysalises and waiting for our butterflies to emerge. Students have loved observing the changes and learning more about the incredible butterfly life cycle. 🦋

Of course, every new CGPS student needs a name! Classes have been busy submitting their best butterfly name suggestions, followed by a school-wide vote to decide the winners. There have been plenty of creative contenders, but you’ll have to wait to find out what our three new CGPS residents will officially be called!

To celebrate Science Week, Lauren has also been putting our scientific thinking to the test, providing a quick science quiz each day. Classes completed the quiz during Morning Circle, collecting points along the way. With a prize on offer for the class with the highest cumulative score, there was plenty of friendly competition and some serious thinking caps in action!

On Monday, our Grade 5/6 students kicked off the week with a Super Special Senior STEM Club at lunchtime. Our senior scientists had the chance to get hands-on with both the LEGO SPIKE kits and microscopes, building, investigating, experimenting and exploring.

Then on Thursday, we turned lunchtime up another notch with a Supercharged STEM Club for students across the school. Students created their own butterflies, constructed impressive LEGO buildings, designed and tested marble runs, and put the microscopes to very good use investigating all sorts of creepy, crawly and fascinating specimens. 🔬🧱🐛

Science Week has been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate curiosity, questioning, experimenting and discovery — and we loved seeing our young scientists getting involved!
