Acting Principal's Message

Mrs Marie Iorfino

🌟 Welcoming Fr Hung to Our Parish and School Community

Last Saturday, we warmly welcomed Fr Hung into our parish and school community. It was a joy‑filled afternoon that brought our families together in celebration. Before Mass, everyone enjoyed a wonderful range of activities — including a petting zoo, children’s games, and then of course, the much‑anticipated BBQ sausage sizzle.

Our children shone brightly through their beautiful liturgical dance, bringing life, colour, and reverence to the celebration. Their performance was a true gift of the Holy Spirit and added something very special to the day. Thank you to Mrs McInness for choreographing the movement.

A heartfelt thank you goes to my dedicated staff— who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the afternoon ran smoothly. We are deeply grateful for their organisation and care.

I'd also extend my thanks to our parent helpers, led by Sean Sheridan and a team of generous volunteers, who purchased supplies, cleaned, cooked, tidied, and may have even wrestled with a few stubborn sausages along the way. Your continued support made the event possible.

This celebration highlighted the strength of our partnership — parish, school, and families working together. With Fr Hung now part of our community, we look forward to many years of building a joyful, faith‑filled, and connected parish‑school environment.

👕 Second‑Hand Uniform Shop

A heartfelt thank you to Maria Klunder and Mikaela Digges for organising and assisting in our second‑hand uniform shop. Your time, care, and commitment are truly appreciated, and we are grateful for the support you provide to our families.

As a gentle reminder, please ensure any donated uniform items are washed and placed in the correct drop‑off location. This helps our volunteers keep the shop running smoothly and ensures all families receive good‑quality items.

Many thanks once again to our wonderful parents and carers who generously volunteer their time. Your support plays an important role in helping our school community thrive.

Debating: Stage 3

In week 4 a group of Stage 3 students represented St Anthony's in the Botany Randwick Inter-School Debating competition. These students have demonstrated an immense amount of school pride by participating in this extracurricular activity. They worked on researching and preparing their debates, improving by working collaboratively and graciously accepting feedback.

The debate topics:

  • Week 3: That all schools should have a therapy dog available for classrooms.

  • Week 4: That we should ban the production of new plastic toys.

  • Week 5: That humanity should stop spending money on space exploration (like Mars) and focus on fixing Earth.

I would like to congratulate the students for their efforts:

🔬 Preschool Visits for Science Week

We were delighted to welcome our preschool friends to St Anthony’s for a special Science Week morning. The children enjoyed a wonderful range of hands‑on investigations, exploring, experimenting, and discovering with great enthusiasm.

A highlight of the visit was learning how to use Bee‑Bots, our programmable floor robots. The preschoolers quickly picked up how to give simple commands, plan movement paths, and watch their Bee‑Bots travel across the mats. It was a joyful introduction to early coding and problem‑solving, and the children were so proud of what they achieved.

It was a fantastic morning filled with curiosity, creativity, and plenty of smiles. We look forward to welcoming our preschool visitors back again soon.
