Author Visit
We are very excited about our Author visit next week.
On Wednesday, 28th May (T2, W5) Solli Raphael will be coming to Roselea to speak to our children. Solli is a powerful presenter with his work resonating with many.
In his own words, slam poet and social advocate, Solli Raphael shines a spotlight on the concerns children face today, exploring the powerful link between writing and shaping the future. His collection of poetry illuminates the social interests of Solli's generation in a thought-provoking style, including a mix of traditional poems and performance poems.
All students will have the opportunity to attend this event.
Solli will speak to K-2, Stage 2 (3-4) and Stage 3 (5-6).
Please ensure payment has been made and permission given.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
This year we will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair! The book fair will be held from Friday, 30th May – Wednesday, 3rd June. (T2, W5 – T2, W6). These books are for purchase and are for students' own pleasure. They are to be taken home.
On Friday, 30 May all classes will come to the fair. Children will complete a wish list, writing down the titles of any books they would like to purchase. The wish list will go home, and children can discuss the books they would like to purchase.
Payment for the book/s can be made directly to Scholastic either online (with a unique QR Code), credit/debit card or by cash on the day. Please do not submit any payments to the school.
Monday – Grandparents Day – the book fair will be open for grandparents to bring their grandchildren along to make purchases.
Tuesday – all classes will come to the fair and the children will collect or purchase their books.
Wednesday – the book fair is open for any child who would still like to make purchases.
The book fair will also be open before and after school from Monday – Wednesday (2nd June – 4th June) and after school Friday, 30th May.
Book fairs offer a way to encourage children to read for pleasure and provide access to hundreds of books for all interests and ages. Purchasing from the fair ensures we can gain more resources for our library, as a percentage of the total sales is given back to spend on books. There will also be an opportunity for students to donate a book to the library if they would like to do so.
Happy reading!
