Welcome to Week 4, we are fast approaching the middle of the term. Our teachers have been working hard on gathering information to write current and meaningful reports that provide key progress and learning goals for every child. While your children have been working hard in class demonstrating to their teachers what they know, there have also been a lot of community events happening across the school in the last two weeks.
We’ve had our annual Mother’s Day Stall for which I would like to take the opportunity to thank our P&C for their organisation and all of the parents who assisted in running the stall on the day. I hope our mothers, grandmothers and those people who fill the shoes of mothers enjoyed their gifts and had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
We held our second Class Parent meeting which is a wonderful opportunity for me to gain parent feedback and share upcoming ideas and events. In this meeting I discussed and asked for feedback on our transition to School Bytes, the new student report, our plans for Education Week and the upcoming technology proposal I will be discussing at the next P&C meeting. Your Class Parents also raised a few issues and ideas that I will take back to our staff to explore. I find these meetings invaluable and I thank the Class Parents for the work they do in seeking your feedback and being your voice in these sessions.
On Friday the much anticipated Immersive Space was officially opened in a special ceremony. During this ceremony we were joined by the Local Member for Epping Monica Tudehope whose predecessor provided a $30,000 grant. We were also joined by P&C Executive who have been instrumental in seeing this project come to life. For the official opening of this playground the P&C elected 3 students to cut the ribbon and at the same time they unveiled the final name for the Immersive Space. ‘The Nature Nook’ was created by Aiden from 5R and elected by the student body. What a great name, and one that our P&C and students love. I would like to thank our P&C for all their hard work and our entire community for fundraising to provide our students with a wonderful space.
The next P&C meeting will be held face to face on Monday 26 May at 7:30pm in the Meeting Room which is located in the main office building. During this meeting there will be a number of key proposals discussed and voted on. I hope you can join us!
On Monday 5 May I had the pleasure of joining our School Captains Hugo and Chloe at NSW Parliament where they were invited by the Local Member for Epping Monica Tudehope. Our School Captains were recognised as future leaders in the Epping electorate. It was a great experience and I could definitely see that both Chloe and Hugo were inspired by the experience and are perhaps now considering a future career in politics.
Thank you to all our parents who have been involved in supporting so many events in the last two weeks. Your time is valuable and we appreciate your ongoing support and the sense of community you help foster.
