Lightning Premiership - Netball

What a fantastic day our netball teams had at Lightning Premiership. We headed to Tulliallan for a day of fun playing against other teams in the district.

The girls’ team were well supported by the mixed team for their first two games. The enthusiasm of the cheer squad was sensational. Everyone played their best games and we had amazing success on the court, winning two of our three matches. Our only loss was to Tulliallan who beat us convincingly during practise rounds. The improvement in our team across the season was evident with the final score being Tulliallan 5 – CGPS 3.

The mixed team were also provided with an enthusiastic cheer squad with the girls cheering them on and getting very excited with the play. One umpire obviously found them a little too enthusiastic asking them to quieten down. We saw some of the best match play from this team throughout the day. There was also terrific support of each other on the court. Again, such tremendous improvement from the start of the season. The stadium erupted when they drew their first match! What a result!

During the lunchbreak, the ladders were finalised and semi final teams announced. To our amazement, both teams were successful in securing a semi final game! Although both teams played admirably, they were unlucky not to walk away with the win.

Well done to all the netballers. You have represented CGPS very well with your resilience, positive attitudes and great sportsmanship. You should all be very proud of your efforts!
