Prep
Students at the Foundation level have explored the fundamentals of music through body percussion and simple beat-making. They have learned to respond to rhythm and tempo while creating their own basic beats using the 4 body percussion techniques (Clap, Snap, Stomp, Pat).
Grade 1
Building on foundational skills, grade one students have continued using body percussion and begin developing their ability to play and create structured beats. Activities have been designed to encourage creativity and rhythmic accuracy.
Grade 2
Students have refined their use of body percussion and expanded their understanding of rhythm by composing and performing more complex beat patterns. Students have been provided the opportunity to practise coordination, timing, and play together in group performances.
Grades 3 & 4
Students have explored various pitched instruments such as xylophones and glockenspiels, while deepening their skills in reading, writing, and performing musical notation. Students have been emersed in playing simple melodies and rhythms in ensemble settings.
Grades 5 & 6
Students continue to develop proficiency with pitched instruments and engage in more advanced music reading, writing, and performing. They have explored layered compositions, notated rhythms, and group performances to strengthen musical independence and expression.

CGPS Primary School Athletics Day – Friday 20th June
Last Friday, was a fantastic day of fun, energy, and friendly competition at our annual 3-6 Athletics Day. Students from all year levels participated with enthusiasm and team spirit, showcasing their athletic talents across a range of track and field events.
From sprints and long-distance races to high jump, shot put and long jump, every event was filled with excitement and loud cheers from students, staff, and families. House colours were proudly worn, and it was wonderful to see such strong displays of sportsmanship and encouragement across all year groups.
Congratulations to all participants for giving their best effort, and to our winning house on the day Flynn.
A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, and families for helping make the day run smoothly. Events like these bring our school spirit to life and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Visual Art
It has been PANDAmonium in the art room as both grade two and grade one have completed art works featuring very adorable Pandas. Grade two put their modelling skills into action to create some very cute clay pandas, while the grade one students did an amazing job with their multi-media paintings of pandas in a bamboo forest.
Meanwhile grade Prep demonstrated their printing and painting skills in creating pictures of hot air balloons in the Melbourne sky. Prep had even more fun modelling little nests with eggs then trying to work out whether the eggs were laid by birds, dragons or dinosaurs.
