From the Principal

St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.

We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.

St Justin's Primary School - Celebrating over 40 years of Catholic Education

Dear Families and Friends,

Week 2 Lent   - Sunday 1st March

Gospel Message - Listening With Jesus

This Sunday we celebrate the second week of Lent.

Lent is a special time when we slow down, take a breath and remember how much God loves us. It is a time for learning, praying, and trying to live more like Jesus.

On Sunday you will hear a story where Jesus takes his friends up a mountain. Something surprising happens there.

They see Jesus shining with God’s light and they hear God’s voice telling them something very important.

This story reminds us that Jesus is always with us and that God still speaks to us today.

God speaks when we are kind, when we listen, and when we choose to do the right thing.

Prayer:

God living among us,

thank you for speaking to us through Jesus.

Help us to listen carefully, to follow his way,

and to shine your light wherever we go.

We ask this together.

All: Amen.

Celebrating Excellence at Mazenod College

On Monday, Father Andrew and Mrs D’Angelo had the privilege of attending the Day of Excellence Assembly at Mazenod College, where the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2025 were formally recognised and celebrated.

It was a wonderful occasion that highlighted not only academic success, but also commitment, perseverance, leadership and contribution to college life. The ceremony was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through dedication and hard work.

We were especially proud to see five past students from St Justin's Primary School acknowledged during the assembly: Noah B, Angelo C, Jasper V, Mitchell F and Aydan E.

Watching our former students walk across the stage to receive awards was a truly special moment. Their achievements reflect the strong foundations built during their primary school years and the continued growth they have shown throughout their secondary education.

Moments like these strengthen the connection between our school and the wider community and inspire our current students to strive for excellence in all that they do.

We congratulate Noah, Angelo, Jasper, Mitchell and Aydan on their outstanding achievements and wish them every continued success in the future.

Welcome Miranda K and Nicolette H

Gallery Image

This Thursday we officially welcome Miranda and Nicolette as volunteers to the St Justin’s Community. For those who haven’t had the privilege of meeting Miranda yet, she is a very excited, delightful 19 year old who is very keen to start helping at St Justin’s. Miranda has Mitochondrial disease - a group of chronic, genetic disorders occurring when mitochondria fail to produce enough energy for cell function, often affecting high-energy organs like the brain, heart, and muscles.

Some of you might remember Nicolette from last year who was on placement in Sam’s class. Nicolette, a qualified nurse and training to be a teacher, will be Miranda’s carer whilst at St Justine’s (at this stage, they plan to be here every Thursday). You might also see Sommer who will drop Miranda off (around 8:30am) and pick her up in the afternoons around 3:00pm. Miranda is a family friend of the Torpey’s - our families met when our children attended primary school.

Miranda and Nicolette will initially help in the library, collecting books from the classroom, scanning them back in and then helping scan out the new books. In time, there might also be other jobs that Miranda and Nicolette could do together - please let us know. Miranda is also very much looking forward to having her lunch in the staffroom -

I’m sure she’ll be up for a chat.

Swimming Program

Gallery Image

By all reports, our swimming program is going really well, mainly as a result of a great venue, amazing support from staff and parent volunteers, and a positive growth mindset from the students. None of this would be possible without the amazing coordination by Mrs Leanne Snell - her attention to detail is amazing.

Whilst we know the students will be tired, we still think the two week intensive program is the best way to go. I'm sure we'll all look forward to the week.

School Fees

School Fee Statements will be issued to all families within the next fortnight, this is due to a delay and waiting on some support from our centralised support team before issuing fee statements to families.  You are still able to make payments as the fees in the system are correct, it is just being able to produce the statements themselves that is the issue so please reach out to setup a Direct Debit with the office.  Thank you for your understanding.

Please refer to Fees and Levies.

Collecting Students during the School Day

Gallery Image

We have had many enquiries as to how to arrange collection of students during the course of the day for appointments. Our preference is that appointments are made outside of school hours as every hour out of school is less learning time.  We understand that there are some times where this is not always possible.  Please ensure that you notify your child’s classroom teacher via nFormaor via email to advise them the following:

  • Pickup Time (Outside of Recess (11:20am- 12:00pm) & Lunchtime (1:50pm – 2:30pm) as it is a challenge to get the students off the playground!
  • Advise whether your child will be returning after their appointment or if they will need to take their school bag home with them.

Once you have arrived at school to collect your child/children, it is a legal requirement that you sign them out via the iPad at the office.  You do this by choosing “Sign Out” and then “Student”.

You must then wait for your child who can ONLY be collected from the Administration (Office) area.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support.

All the best,

Pat
