Principal's Panorama

Miss Justine Goonan

Dear Parents and Carers,

Pope Francis

As we prepared to welcome students back to Term Two, we heard the news of the passing of Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church. Pope Francis led with compassion and was known for his humility, emphasis on mercy and strong advocacy for the poor, migrants and the environment. A conclave to elect his successor will begin next week.

The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival

Thank you to everyone in our Sacred Heart School community from Staff, parents, students to Grandparents, for the incredible number of baked treats that our P & C had to sell at the re-enactment. It was a very successful fundraiser for the P & C, with details of funds raised to be shared at our next P & C meeting.

ANZAC Day

We had a great turn out from our Sacred Heart School community to participate in the mid-morning march and service on ANZAC Day. Our students displayed great reverence and respect throughout the march and service. Olivia and Amelia (our School ambassadors) spoke beautifully, reading 'In Flanders' Field' to all in attendance.

Professional Learning for Staff

Staff came back from holidays the week prior to students to participate in professional learning with all of the other 51 schools in the Diocese of Sandhurst. Staff participated in professional learning with Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, who shared his knowledge and passion about neuroscience and the science of learning. All Sacred Heart School staff enjoyed this opportunity to learn from Jared about how we can help our students best, using knowledge about how the brain works to do so. This professional learning is part of the new Magnify framework that is being implemented across all Sandhurst schools.

Athletics Carnival

It was another great Athletics' Carnival with Sacred Heart School teaming up with Corryong College and Walwa Primary School. From the feedback of students, families and staff, it is seen as a great opportunity to have the whole community of Corryong and surrounds together for the day. Thank you to all of our families who were able to come and support our students throughout the day and to Corryong College for their organisation of the event. We look forward to again participating in a sport event with all three schools, being the Cross Country in a fortnight's time.

Congratulations to Matilda (9 Girls - joint Champion), Bentley (11 Boys - Champion) and Lachy (12 Boys- joint Champion) for their successful days of winning or placing in many events, helping them to gain age champions for their groups.

We don't have the medals just yet to formally recognise the achievements of these students, but we hope to do so at a school assembly in the near future.

School Uniform

As we commence Term Two please check in with your child/ren, are they wearing navy socks? Wearing navy shorts or pants without logos?

It is an expectation that students are in correct uniform.

We have a selection of new and second-hand uniforms at school if you are in need of any new items of clothing.

Upcoming Mother's Day Breakfast and Stall

Good luck to all in the community playing/coaching netball and football this weekend and Go Pies!

~ Justine
