What's Been Happening in Year 6 - Camp
Building Confidence
I felt more excited for this camp than any other camp because of all the different activities and it was my last camp with Our Lady’s. I felt anxious about the activities because I had never done them before and they seemed to be a bit nervewracking, a lot of them involved heights, which I found scary. Even the horse I rode was taller than the others. I did them all anyway because I knew that they would be fun and it was my last year to do them. My friends and I cheered for each other the whole time. I felt even more proud of myself when I won the rancher award for building confidence! I showed my parents and they were so proud of me for being confident!

Horse Riding
One of our activities was horse riding and we were each given a horse that was right for our size. At first, I was unsure and a bit nervous but as soon as I got on, the horse took a couple of steps and I felt more confident. The instructors told us that horses were really clever and can breathe along with us to help us feel better. We went along a big trail, up and down steep hills, we had to change how we sat to help the horse walk easier. I felt so much more confident because I challenged myself in this activity.

Hut Building
One of our activities at camp was hut building. We had to build huts out of big wooden logs. They took ages to build and they had to stand up for 20 seconds on their own and be weatherproof. Our hut was awesome because we used heaps of logs and it was very sturdy. I ended up helping the other group so we could both succeed, but I was too late to help them because our time had run out. I really liked hut building because I like being a leader and I’m good at building just like my dad.

Night Walk
After dinner, we put on all of our warm clothes and grabbed our torches for the night walk. We walked through the horse pen and up a big hill. There was horse poo everywhere. After walking for a bit, we sat down on a big hill, we watched the sunset over the beach and found cool shells in the ground. Some of us ran or rolled down the hill and it was so much fun. I loved walking with my friends in the dark with our torches. It was a lot of fun to just explore a bit. At the end, we sprinted down the hill and back to our cabins.

Rock Climbing
One of our activities at camp was rock climbing. We went down the hill and sat on the bench to wait for our instructors. We put on our harnesses and got ready to climb. I was only a little bit nervous and wanted to push through it and do my best. I got to the top and hit the metal to let the instructor know to let me come down. It was really fun to slowly float back down. I cheered on all my friends to believe in themselves and get to the top. After that activity, I felt confident that I could do anything.

Travelling to Camp & Cabins
When we got to school, we dropped off our suitcases and waited for the buses to arrive. Our bus had the least amount of kids, so it was very roomy. The bus ride was really fun, we spent the whole time talking about camp and how excited we were. We arrived at camp, we sat and had our snacks in the hall with our friends. While we sat, our teachers told us our activity groups and we got ready to do our first activity. After lunch, we found our cabins and settled in. We loved running into our cabins, picking our beds and exploring every part. I had all my friends in my cabin and we got to sit together and hang out for a bit. We had so much fun at camp in our groups and our cabins!

Flying Fox
One of my first activities was the flying fox.
Flying fox was really cool because we were so high up and could see the beach, the hills and all the cows. I went down with Joseph and Christian. We flew down so fast and walked back up this really long, really steep hill in order to go again. The distance of the flying fox was 270 metres long. That is so cool! It was one of my favourite activities. Year 6 camp had so many to choose from!

Giant Swing
One of our last activities was the giant swing. I was happy that it was the last. The swing was 18 metres high and I went the whole way. I was screaming as loud as I could because it was so fun and I was still a bit scared. It was awesome because my friends all cheered for me when I finished. I was really proud of myself for believing that I could go the highest and being really confident. I really want to do it again in highschool.
