Mini Fete

Just a reminder that Mini Fete will be held next week on Friday the 13th of November, hosted by our Year 6s. We encourage everyone to bring some money, as the money raised will go towards the Year 6 Graduation. If you would like to bring money, you can bring $2, $5, $10 or even $20 dollars. Please make sure you keep your money safe; a good idea might be to put it in a small purse, wallet or an envelope.

It’s sure to be a fun day with lots of activities, games, prizes, some food, drinks and goodies to buy.

World Teachers Day

Last Friday, we celebrated World Teachers' Day! We had the chance to interview some of our new teachers who have recently completed their VIT registration, which is when they move from provisional registration to fully registered teachers. To achieve this, they all had an assignment to complete this year, and they all passed. Congratulations!!!

We got to ask them a few questions to find out more about them, their experiences at our school and what they love about teaching. We are so lucky to have such amazing teachers.

Mr Lazarus - Music and Japanese Teacher

One of the reasons I decided to become a teacher at Our Lady’s is because I wanted to share my love of music and make a difference in students’ lives. My experience at this school has been a really positive one, with supportive staff and enthusiastic students. Our Lady’s Primary School has truly helped me feel welcome.

My favourite part about teaching is seeing students achieve something they never thought they could. Of course, my favourite subject to teach is music, as I am a musician myself. It is always a privilege to share my love and knowledge of music with students.

Overall, Our Lady’s is a wonderful community to be part of, where I can continue to grow and thrive as both a teacher and a musician.

Miss LoBianco - Year 5 Classroom Teacher

My experience at Our Lady’s has been very rewarding, as it has given me a more practical understanding of teaching. It has supported my studies and helped me learn how to work with students in a positive way. My favourite part about teaching is connecting learning to real-life situations so that students can apply what they learn to different aspects of their lives.

I chose to teach at Our Lady’s because I was once a student here and knew it was a welcoming community that I wanted to be a part of. My decision to become a teacher was inspired by a work experience opportunity in Year 10, when I spent a week working as a teacher's helper.

My favourite subject to teach is definitely Mathematics, as I enjoy finding ways to make difficult equations easier for students to understand. One of my favourite parts of teaching is connecting with different members of the school community, including parents, students and staff. I love making people laugh and putting a smile on their faces. OLPS has been a wonderful place to work, as it allows me to connect with and learn from such a wide range of people.

Miss Caiafa - Prep Classroom Teacher

Building meaningful relationships with my students and pursuing a career in education has been a lifelong aspiration of mine, and I feel very fortunate to teach at such a beautiful school. My favourite subject to teach is Literacy, as I am highly passionate about the specific program we utilise in our curriculum. Nearly every aspect of this role provides a deeply rewarding experience, particularly when I see the students actively progress and grasp the skills I have shared with them.

Miss Georgantonis - Year 3 Classroom Teacher

One of my favourite parts about teaching is watching students grow, learn new things and develop the confidence to apply their learning independently. I decided to join OLPS as a teacher because I had heard about the school's strong values and how beautiful, welcoming and supportive the community was.

I became a teacher because I had a wonderful Year 1 teacher who made me feel calm, supported and encouraged. He inspired me to become the same kind of teacher for my own students.

My favourite subject to teach is Mathematics because I love hearing students say that they are beginning to understand a problem and knowing that I have helped them learn something new.

Mr Baldwinson - PE Teacher and classroom teacher

One of the reasons I joined OLPS as a teacher was because I had heard so many great things about the school, its wonderful people and its welcoming community. My favourite part about teaching is watching my students grow, develop and learn new things.

I chose to become a teacher at OLPS because my wife attended the school and always spoke so highly of it. She described it as an amazing school and a wonderful community to be part of.

This was our message at assembly last week to all of our teachers and all of the staff who work at our school.

Today, we celebrate and thank all the wonderful staff at our school for the care, kindness and dedication you show our students every day.

Thank you for helping us learn new things, encouraging us to do our best, believing in us and making our school a happy and welcoming place to be. The time, patience and support you give us make a real difference in our lives.

From all the students, thank you for everything you do to help us grow, learn and shine!

Happy World Teachers’ Day to our amazing staff!

Grade 6 Camp

Last week, the Year 6 students went on their final primary school camp to The Ranch. They had the opportunity to participate in many exciting activities, which helped boost their confidence and test their resilience, particularly when some of us were feeling a little scared to try certain activities.

A big thank you to all the Year 6 teachers for organising the camp and to the staff who attended and supported us throughout the experience. We had a fantastic time! To read more about our camp and see some photos, visit the Classroom News page.
