On the Sidelines

What a great term we are having so far in the areas of Phys Ed and Sport!
Phys Ed update
Our Phys Ed curriculum this term has seen all students at the Heights taking part in a multi-age Gymnastics program. In this program we have experienced activities that involved spring and landings, balance, locomotion, rotations and fitness. Students have displayed our school values by collaborating in small groups to complete the activities. We loved to see students focus on their learning by demonstrating perseverance and respect. Well done everyone, it was a really enjoyable unit to kick start the term!
Moving forwards the students will be focusing on the following units:
Foundation- PMP and Overhand Throw
Year 1 and 2- Striking skills: Forehand and Two Hand Strike
Year 3- Forehand Strike in minor games
Year 4- Introduction to Net and Wall Games
Year 5 and 6- Developing and applying our skills in Net and Wall games
Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics
Well done to Jaida and Dylan who made it through to the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Carnival. Jaida competed in the shot put and 800m finishing 3rd and 6th in these events, congratulations on smashing a PB in the 800m Jaida!
Congratulations to Dylan who finished 6th in his discus event! This is such a great achievement for both of these students. Well done!!
Bundoora District Cricket Tournament
On Monday October 20, the PE team took 16 students to the annual BDSSA Cricket Tournament. It was a great day and although a bit wet we didn't let this dampen our spirits. The students strived for excellence with teamwork and perseverance at an all time high. Both teams played 4 games on the day with the boys winning 2 and girls undefeated. Well done to the girls cricket team, they will progress to the Whittlesea Division Cricket Tournament this Friday October 31. Good luck!
