Science Week 2026 – Grade 5/6 Science Fair

As part of our Science Week 2026 celebrations, we are excited to invite families to our Grade 5/6 Science Fair on Tuesday 18th August from 3:30pm–4:30pm.

Every Grade 5/6 student will have a science project on display, showcasing their curiosity, creativity, and scientific thinking. The displays will be located in the STEM Room and the corridor outside, giving visitors the opportunity to explore a wide range of engaging investigations and experiments. They have been working hard on their projects at school.

We are also delighted to welcome representatives from GoodWe, who will be presenting prizes to selected students during the fair. Families of prize winners will be notified prior to the event to ensure they are present for the presentations.

We warmly invite parents, carers, siblings and other family members to attend and celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students. It promises to be a fantastic afternoon of discovery, innovation and learning.

Following the fair, the projects will remain on display on Wednesday morning, providing classes with the opportunity to visit and view the exhibits.

We look forward to seeing our school community come together to celebrate Science Week and the wonderful efforts of our young scientists! 

Grade 6 Government Incursion

On the 29th of July, the Year 6 classes were visited by the Mayor of Frankston, Sue Baker. The incursion was held in the library, where she showed us a video about Frankston and some of its well-known landmarks. We learnt about the three levels of government and their leaders, why the role of the mayor is important, and how a mayor helps the community. We also discovered that Frankston City Council is made up of eight councillors and one mayor. We learnt that the Chief ExecutiveOfficer works alongside thecouncil, and that the Deputy Mayor is one of the councillors. One of the most interesting things we learnt was that the special necklace a mayor wears is called the Chain of Office. At the end of the session, the Year 6 students asked lots of thoughtful questions and learnt so much about how our local government works.

Art Update

Our Year 4 artists have been observing the colours in our natural landscape and experimenting with ways to represent colour in natural objects.  The students explored different techniques with oil pastels to create these close ups of sunflowers. As you can see the art they have created is fantastic.

For all students, art can help reduce stress, develop self confidence and improve problem solving skills. We encourage all of our students to explore their creativity at home.

Foundation Grandparent's Day

Our Foundation students were delighted to welcome their grandparents and special visitors for our annual Grandparents and Special Persons Day. Guests enjoyed spending time in the classrooms before gathering for a delicious afternoon tea, accompanied by wonderful musical performances from our talented Year 3–6 students. Visitors also supported our Library Book Sale, purchasing books to be donated to our school library on behalf of a Foundation student. It was a fantastic day filled with smiles, special memories, and community spirit, and we thank everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a great success.

GoodWe EcoSmart Kids Incursion - Inspires Future Sustainability Leaders

Our Grade 5 and 6 students recently enjoyed taking part in the GoodWe EcoSmart Kids Program, an engaging incursion focused on environmental sustainability.

Through interactive activities, students explored renewable energy, climate change, and simple ways they can help protect our planet. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm as they shared ideas and asked thoughtful questions.

A big thank you to GoodWe for providing this valuable learning experience and inspiring our students to make a positive difference.

Sunshine & Lollipop Day

A huge thank you to our wonderful Langwarrin Park Primary School community for supporting our School Captains' Sunshine & Lollipop Day!

It was fantastic to see so many students embracing the rainbow theme, filling our school with bright, colourful outfits and plenty of smiles. Your enthusiasm helped make the day a wonderful celebration of fun, community and school spirit.

A special congratulations to our School Captains for taking the initiative to organise and run this fantastic event. Their leadership, creativity and commitment to bringing our school community together are something to be incredibly proud of. They did a wonderful job planning and promoting the day, and their efforts were rewarded with such fantastic support from students and staff alike.

After a week of rainy weather, it was the perfect way to end the week. While the sunshine may have stayed hidden, our school was bursting with colourful rainbows—proving that sometimes we create our own sunshine! 🌈
