Principal’s Newsletter Report: 31/7/2026

 As we move through another exciting term, it is wonderful to see our students embracing every opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to our school community. Every day at Langwarrin Park Primary School we are Sculpting the Future by nurturing students who demonstrate Respect, Resilience and Citizenship—whether they are learning in the classroom, performing on stage, caring for our environment or supporting one another. Thank you to our families for partnering with us as we continue this important work.

Roof Works Progressing Well

Our roof replacement project continues to move ahead at a fantastic pace. The Administration building, LOTE area and OSHC spaces have now been completed, with the next stage focusing on the classrooms closest to the Year 2 playground.

The building team has been wonderful to work with. Not only have they completed the scheduled works efficiently, but they have also assisted us with several unexpected maintenance issues caused by previous roof leaks and burst water pipes. We appreciate their commitment to helping improve our learning spaces for both students and staff.

Talent Show – Celebrating Courage and Resilience

The Talent Show heats have been absolutely fabulous! It takes enormous courage, preparation and resilience to perform in front of an audience, and every student who stepped onto the stage should feel incredibly proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to all of our performers for sharing their talents so confidently. A very special thank you to Mrs Henschel and Mrs Pendlebury for the many hours they have dedicated to organising this wonderful event. We are all looking forward to the Talent Show Finale next week and celebrating our amazing students.

Improving Our School Grounds

There is plenty happening around our school this term as we continue investing in spaces that support student wellbeing and learning.

Our new bike shed is progressing well, while our grounds team has been busy maintaining and refreshing our gardens to keep them looking clean and welcoming. Following the Colour Run, work will begin on upgrading the outdoor basketball area and installing new four-square courts beside the Facilities Shed. We are also exploring the possibility of adding a Gaga Pit for our senior students.

These improvements reflect our commitment to Sculpting the Future by creating engaging spaces where students can play, connect and thrive.

I would also like to sincerely thank our School Council, who have worked diligently throughout the year to carefully manage the school's finances while supporting fundraising initiatives. Funds raised this year, including our upcoming Colour Run, will be invested directly back into exciting playground improvements for our students. We already have some wonderful plans taking shape for 2027 and look forward to sharing these with our community soon.

Grandparents' Day

What a wonderful afternoon we shared with our families during Grandparents' Day! It was a pleasure to welcome more than 200 grandparents into our school to spend time learning alongside their grandchildren before joining us in the hall for afternoon tea.

Our visitors were treated to beautiful musical performances by more than 100 students, showcasing both confidence and talent.

Many grandparents also generously donated books to our library, with each book featuring a special donation plaque recognising their grandchild. These gifts will be enjoyed by students for many years to come. Thank you for helping make this day such a special celebration of family, learning and community.

Sunshine and Lollipops Day

With the colder weather upon us, our Sunshine and Lollipops Day is a wonderful opportunity to brighten the week while supporting projects that have been designed and led by our students.

Earlier this year, our Year 6 Student Leaders attended the EMC Student Leadership Conference, where they explored ways to make our school an even better place. Since then, they have worked alongside our leadership team to turn those ideas into reality.

One group wanted to encourage greater respect for our school grounds, leading to our Sustainability Captains establishing a recycling program that is already raising funds for future student projects. Another group proposed installing creative bins with basketball hoops, encouraging students to "shoot" their rubbish into the bin while helping keep our playgrounds clean.

This fundraiser will support the purchase and installation of these creative bins—another fantastic example of students demonstrating citizenship by making a positive contribution to our school community.

Emergency Management Drill

Keeping our students and staff safe remains one of our highest priorities.

On Thursday 6 August, we will conduct another Lockdown Drill as part of our regular Emergency Management procedures. Following our practice in Term 2, staff reflected on the process and identified several ways to make our response even more efficient. Practising these procedures ensures everyone knows what to do should we ever need them.

Curriculum Day – Continuing to Grow Together

Our next Curriculum Day will be held on Tuesday 11 August. TheirCare has opened bookings for families requiring care on this day and will be offering a range of engaging activities for students.

Our staff will spend the day continuing our professional learning with the REAL Schools team. Over the past 18 months we have worked deliberately to strengthen our school culture by building positive relationships and embedding our values of Respect, Resilience and Citizenship into everything we do. This ongoing learning ensures we continue to provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child can flourish as we continue Sculpting the Future together.

Industrial Action Update

Thank you to all of our families for your understanding and support during the industrial action on 23 July. We greatly appreciated the respect shown to our staff as they stood alongside colleagues across Victoria to advocate for improved conditions for public education.

Some families may have seen media reports regarding possible industrial action on Tuesday 4 August. At this stage, this will not be proceeding, as the required notice has not been provided to the Department.

Book Week is Almost Here!

Have you started planning your Book Week costume yet?

Book Week is always one of the highlights of the school year, and we love seeing the creativity and enthusiasm our students bring to the parade. This year, TheirCare has generously donated prizes for students who truly bring their favourite book characters to life.

We can't wait to celebrate another wonderful Book Week together and see the imagination and joy that our students bring to this special event.
