Mr Matt Elson

Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,

Thank you to Staff, Students and Families for a terrific start to Term 3. We had a fun night at the disco in Week 1, it was great to see students enjoying themselves. Once again, thank you to Gympie State High for allowing use to use their fantastic Hamilton Hall.

We also celebrated NAIDOC Week which occurred during the school holidays. I would like to thank Kerry Neill, Traditional Owner Kabi Kabi for sharing culture with us. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of our NAIDOC Committee but in particular Mrs Mia Hacker for leadership of this day. The next page goes into more detail about the activities the students were able to experience.

In PBL this week, the focus is 'Be Respectful'. Students will be discussing ways we can maintain respect with those around us. Next week, we will be focussing on 'Being honest and kind'. We know that students who are honest and kind find it easier to make and maintain friendships.

I would like to acknowledge the students who have competed at the Gympie District Athletics Carnival on Thursday and Friday this week. As I am writing this, I have already heard of some excellent performances. We look forward to hearing about these in detail at next week's school parade.

Finally, I sent an email yesterday to all parents regarding our P&C Meeting on Monday, where we did not reach a quorum of minimum 5 people. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday 3rd August at 3:30pm in the STEM Room. Its an easy meeting, where you can share your opinions and hear about upcoming events in the school. We would love to see some more parents there!
