Zali L - National Youth Science Forum

We're proud to share that Year 12 student, Zali L., was selected to attend the 2026 National Youth Science Forum (NYSF), funded by the Eltham Rotary Scholarship. Zali recently spoke at the Eltham Rotary Youth Night and shared her experiences and the passion she has for Science and a future career in this industry.

National Youth Science Forum – Year 12 Program 2027

Applications are now open for the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) Year 12 Program 2027, a prestigious STEM enrichment program for students entering Year 12 next year.

The program is proudly funded by the Eltham Rotary Scholarship, which covers all travel expenses. It's a fantastic opportunity for any student considering a career in science.

What students will gain:

Engagement with industry professionals and researchers
Information about university pathways and STEM careers
Networking with like-minded students from across Australia

Cost

Program fee: $3,180
Application fee: $70
Fee includes accommodation, meals and activities. Travel and travel insurance are not included.

Declan D - RSL Living Spirit Fellowship

For many Australians, ANZAC Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices of those who served our nation. For Year 12 Music Captain Declan Draper, this year's commemoration carried extra significance.

As recipient of the 2025–2026 Greensborough RSL Living Spirit Fellowship, Declan travelled to Thailand, following the route of the Thai-Burma Railway and honouring the Australian POWs who endured such hardship there during WWII. The trip held special meaning for Declan, whose great-grandfather John Eddy was among the POWs who worked on the railway.

The journey took the group through Kanchanaburi Province, visiting sites including Hellfire Pass, the Bridge on the River Kwai and Naka Songkurai, where Declan's great-grandfather had once lived and worked. A highlight was attending the Hellfire Pass Dawn Service on ANZAC Day, where Declan laid a wreath in honour of his great-grandfather and all who have served.

"It gave me the opportunity to pay my respects not only to my great-grandfather, but also to all those who serve, have served, and have made the ultimate sacrifice," Declan reflected.

Over the holidays, Declan presented his findings and reflections to the Greensborough RSL, sharing stories from a journey that allowed him to walk in his great-grandfather's footsteps and help ensure these stories continue to be remembered.

Alli Allen - All Australian Honours (AFL)

Congratulations to Year 12 student Alli Allen, named in the 2026 AFL U18 Girls All Australian Team!

Alli capped off an outstanding national championships campaign with Vic Metro by earning selection in the All Australian side, alongside five other Victorians. She also claimed Most Valuable Player for Vic Metro at the Marsh AFL National Championships – U18 Girls.

A fantastic achievement and a proud moment for everyone who has watched Alli's journey. We're so proud of you, Alli, and we look forward to continuing to watch your football career!
