The Principal

As many families will be aware, College Principal, Karen Terry is currently undertaking the role of Acting Principal at Viewbank College. While she is away, I am privileged to be serving as Acting College Principal at St Helena Secondary College.

Having been part of the St Helena community for a number of years, I know what makes this school such a special place. Every day I see students striving for their personal best, staff who are deeply committed to supporting young people, and families who contribute so much to the strength of our community.

As we begin the term, I have been particularly pleased by the positive way our students have returned to learning. Classrooms have been purposeful and productive, and there is already a great deal happening across the college through our academic, sporting, wellbeing and extracurricular programs.

One of the great privileges of this role is being able to spend time with students across the college. Whether it is visiting classrooms, attending events, speaking with students in the yard or celebrating achievements, I am continually reminded of the talent, character and diversity that exists within our school community.

I am also pleased that this edition includes a number of student success stories. These stories highlight the diverse talents, achievements and personal growth of our young people and reflect the many opportunities available to students at St Helena Secondary College. While only a small selection can be featured in each edition, there are many student success stories taking place across our college every day. We would love to celebrate these achievements with our community. Over the coming weeks, I look forward to continuing to work closely with students, staff and families to ensure that every young person feels supported, challenged and connected. Strong relationships sit at the heart of successful schools, and St Helena continues to be a community where those relationships matter.

On behalf of the college, I would also like to thank Karen for the leadership she continues to provide while at Viewbank College. We look forward to welcoming her back later this term.
