Physical Education

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We’re excited to share what’s been and what will be happening in the world of Physical Education (P.E.) here at St Anthony's this term! Our students early on have shown fantastic energy, teamwork, and resilience across a range of activities that are aimed at developing their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
This term, both the Preps and Year 1/2s will be focusing on performing a range of movements including both overarm and underarm throws. As well as using various techniques to catch objects of different sizes. Often these activities will be done in either teams or with a partner. So far students have already developed the understanding of how to perform these actions with the correct technique.
Both the Year 3/4 and 5/6 students are starting their athletics unit which will cover a number of different track and field events. Some of these events include long jump and triple jump as well as shot put and discus. Students early on have shown great signs on using the correct technique to perform each event as well as the scoring and rules to go along with them.
Cross Country
We are pleased to announce that the St Anthony’s Cross Country Team for this year was officially selected at the end of last term.
I would like to recognise the students who took part in the trials but were not selected in this year’s team. The standard was very competitive, and every student should be proud of the effort they showed. We encourage you to keep running and future opportunities will come with continued dedication.
We ultimately ended up with a team of 41 students both boys and girls who range in age from 9-13. They will be competing in the District Cross Country event on the 15th of May at Tatterson Reserve (Keysborough).
In the lead up to this event students will be practising in their PE lessons as well as in their own lunchtimes.
Also, thank you to Joshua Fisher in assisting in the trials and who will also be helping in the training of some of our first time Cross Country participants.
We look forward to seeing the team in action and wish them every success in the events ahead

Interschool Sports
As we move into the new term, we are excited to begin the upcoming Winter Interschool Sports Season. This is always a highlight of the school year, providing students with the opportunity to represent the school, develop their skills, and compete in a positive and supportive environment.
This five week season will have students participating in a one of the following winter sports:
- Soccer
- AFL (Australian Football)
- Tag Rugby
- Rookie Rollers (Lawn Bowls)
- Netball
Participation in interschool sports is about more than just competition. It is an opportunity to build teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, while also fostering school pride. We encourage all students to give their best effort, support their teammates, and represent the school with respect both on and off the field.
We look forward to an exciting season ahead and wish all teams the very best. Go St Anthony’s!
