Our School Assembly last Friday was given over to a special Welcome to Pittwater House event with the theme of Belonging. Incredibly humbling that the subject of the Welcome was me as the new Principal of this great school.
I was honoured to have past Principals Mr Richard Morgan and Dr Nancy Hillier in attendance, whilst we acknowledged Mr Rex Morgan OAM, Founder of our school, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
In the presence of our School Board, led by Chairman Mr Todd Alexis SC, I was privileged to receive symbolic gifts from the Board of Directors, Pittwater House Staff, Students, the Parents' Association, Alumni and the Cadet Unit, each carrying its own theme and significance.
I was joined for this special event by my daughters Indiana and Skylar, my brother Mark, and my mother Sandra, along with guests drawn from colleagues and friends from childhood through to representatives from other schools where I have worked in Sydney and in Melbourne.
Whilst this was a stunning highlight for me and my family to be formally welcomed into this community it truly was a celebration of our great school. The energy and optimism of our students, the gusto with which they sing, the remarkable talent of our musicians, and the history and tradition that define us — these are the things that make Pittwater House so special. You feel it the moment you walk through the gates. There is something truly unique about our school and our place here on the Northern Beaches.
This was a sensational event and my thanks to everyone who had a role in organising this wonderful celebration.
It is my sincere hope that we don't experience a Celebration like this again for some time!
Semper Diligens.
