Welcome to Hurstville Public School - 150 Years Newsletter

Principal's message

Welcome to this momentous occasion as we celebrate 150 years of public education here at Hurstville Public School on our long-standing site. This extraordinary milestone reflects a rich and inspiring journey of learning, growth, and community spanning a century and a half. Throughout this time, Hurstville Public School has become much more than just an educational institution — it has grown into a cherished place where young people and their families come together to receive a high-quality education within a warm, welcoming, and vibrant community.

Over the decades, our school has built an outstanding reputation, widely recognised for nurturing students who excel in academic pursuits, cultural endeavours, and sporting achievements. Our unwavering commitment to fostering excellence, inclusivity, and personal growth has shaped countless learners who have gone on to make meaningful contributions both within our local area and in broader communities.

This newsletter marks the first in a dedicated series created to support and celebrate our 150 Year anniversary. It aims to keep all members of our school community — including students, families, alumni, staff, and friends — informed and connected with the exciting events and opportunities planned throughout this landmark year.

We are truly excited to open our doors and warmly welcome the wider community into our school throughout the year. Together, we will honour our proud history, celebrate the incredible achievements of today, and look forward with optimism to the bright future ahead. A carefully planned program of special events will provide numerous opportunities for current students, past graduates, and future learners to come together and engage with the unique character and spirit that make Hurstville Public School so special.

I encourage everyone to join our Alumni Network—this will ensure you stay informed and connected, so you don’t miss any chance to participate in the celebrations and be part of our ongoing story.

Thank you for being part of our remarkable journey. It is with great pride and joy that we celebrate 150 years of learning, achievement, and strong community bonds here at Hurstville Public School.

Regards,

Mr Mark Steed
