F-2 MATHS WITH KILBREDA
Students from Kilbreda College recently visited our school to run fun, hands-on Maths activities with our F–2 classes.
The Foundation students raced cars down an incline to learn about measurement. The Year 1 students played a trading game using Toy Story characters to represent numbers. They worked together to collect their missing values and tried to win by collecting the most characters and numbers. The Year 2 students made an addition board game to play and practise adding up.
YEAR 4 LitSTEM
Lit STEM is an integrated way of learning that connects Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, Reading and Writing. Rather than teaching these as separate subjects, the lessons use stories to introduce STEM concepts. Students visited Kilbredea, where they performed some amazing experiments! The elephant toothpaste was a great success!!
ITALIAN DAY
We are looking forward to our Italian Day next Friday 23 October. Everyone has to dress up as something Italian or wear the Italian colours (red, white and green). Students have put down their preferences for lunch, which consists of pizza (Margherita or Hawaiian) and gelato (vanilla or chocolate)!
MISSION MONTH
Mission Month (also known as World Mission Month or Month of the Missions) is an annual global observance held throughout October by the Roman Catholic Church to support, pray for and raise awareness of its worldwide missionary work.
This year, we are celebrating Mission Month on 13 November. We are going to wear a touch of red and bring a gold coin donation. Every class will create a soccer ball using recycled and repurposed materials. Once finished, we will host an inter-class soccer tournament!
The class that donates the most will win a handmade trophy created by the Arts and Culture and Liturgy and Community teams.
5/6 ROLLER SKATING NIGHT
The Year 5/6 Level enjoyed a rollerskating night at Skateworld, Mordialloc on Friday the 9th of October. They ate food, played games and hung out with their friends.
We interviewed some of those who went to see what they liked.
What was your favorite thing about roller skating night?
Jye:”Hanging out with my friends and trying my hardest with all the games.”
Emerson:”Seeing my friends and the food options.”
What was your favourite game to play there?
Emerson: “My favourite game was the corner game because I won and got lollies.”
Jye: “My favourite game was limbo because I found it a bit challenging and found it fun to get under the pole without hitting it.
Thank you to Vanessa for organising the night for us.
We had exciting things happening this week, and there is more to come this term! Look out for our next newsletter.
Thank you!
