Mary, Our Mother and Patron Saint of the Parish of Ascot Vale

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary: Monday September 8

This week we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the birthday of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Mary’s life reminds us of the importance of saying “yes” to God with trust and love. Just as she welcomed Jesus into the world, we are called to welcome Christ into our hearts and share His love with others. On this special feast day, let us give thanks for Mary’s example of faith and pray that we too may follow her in living with kindness, humility and courage.

The Most Holy Name of Mary: Friday September 12

This feast day is a special day where we honour Mary, the Mother of Jesus, by reflecting on the beauty and power of her name. The name “Mary” reminds us of her deep love for God, her closeness to Jesus, and her care for all of us as our heavenly mother. This feast encourages us to call on Mary’s name in prayer, trusting that she always leads us closer to her Son.

Historically, the feast was established to give thanks for Mary’s intercession in times of need, especially during difficult moments in the Church’s history. Today, it is a joyful reminder that saying Mary’s name with love and faith brings peace, comfort, and protection.

We warmly invite our school community to join us in celebrating this special feast day at Mass on Friday, led by 4A and attended by our Prep, Year 3 - 6 students.

Let us Pray ...

Mary, with your consent to become the

Mother of God,

torrents of grace poured forth upon the earth,

opening up for me a path to follow.

In times of loneliness,

Mary, be with me.

In times of turmoil and uncertainty,

Mary, be with me.

In times of grief, loss or illness,

Mary, be with me.

In times of sadness and depression,

Mary, be with me.

In times of broken promises,

Mary, be with me.

When I am anxious about the welfare

of my family,

Mary, be with me.

When a job or financial stress weighs

heavily on my heart,

Mary, be with me.

When I am discouraged by the weight

of my sins,

Mary, be with me.

When I am tempted,

Mary, be with me.

When I am afraid,

Mary, be with me

In times of loneliness,

Mary, be with me.

When the Lord calls me to greater

kindness and love,

Mary, be with me.

When the Lord call to greater

forgiveness,

Mary, be with me.

Amen
