Upper Primary Term 2
Upper Primary students continued building confidence in Term 2 through exploring new artists and colour techniques. They explored Keith Haring’s bold line work, using secondary colours and practising cut and paste skills to create lively designs. Students also created Bancroft inspired landscapes, using mixed media such as watercolour, oil pastels, crayons and pencils, and learning to apply warm and cool colours to show mood and contrast. It’s been great to see their creativity and willingness to take risks grow.

Upper Primary students have transitioned their tech skills to laptops this term. They have transferred some excellent typing skills and continue to gain confidence logging in and out of their school accounts. Students have been thrilled to use Minecraft in Digital Technology, further developing their skills to cooperate and play respectfully while building some amazing houses.
Classes have tried their hand at songwriting using their own lyrics with generative music software, with some amazing results. Michael Jackson has been a focus for instrumental work, with classes refreshing their keyboard, guitar and vocal skills through the song ‘Beat It’. This then became the focus for further ensemble workshops.

Students in Upper Primary have enjoyed learning more about different motor skills this term. They practised running, skipping, vertical jump, kicking, throwing and shooting skills with their peers. Students learnt to reflect on what went well and what was challenging for them during each session.
Upper Primary students have continued developing strategies to support their learning and wellbeing within the classroom environment. In Drug Education, students explored the safe use of household products and medicines, including understanding warning labels and the importance of seeking adult support. They also reviewed what is safe and not safe to put in their mouths.
