Term 2

Term 2

It has been another busy and exciting term in Upper Primary, with students embracing a wide range of learning opportunities across the curriculum.

Our Discovery unit, "Our Amazing Body and How We Care for It," has sparked curiosity and inspired students to become enthusiastic investigators as they explored the incredible ways our bodies work and what they need to stay healthy. Through engaging, hands-on language experiences, students investigated body parts, the senses, the role of the brain, healthy food and water choices, the spread of germs, and the importance of movement for maintaining wellbeing. Along the way, they built new vocabulary, deepened their understanding of key concepts, and proudly shared their learning through a range of writing tasks, demonstrating growing confidence in communicating their ideas.

In Mathematics, students have continued to develop their understanding of length by applying their learning in meaningful, real-world contexts. Using a variety of measuring tools, they have measured everything from classroom objects to playground equipment, and even the school oval! These practical experiences have helped students strengthen their measurement skills while making learning fun and purposeful.

Our Literacy learning has focused on developing strong foundational reading and writing skills. Students have worked hard to blend and segment sounds, building greater fluency and confidence as readers. We have also continued to use the Hartley Handwriting program to support the development of accurate letter formation, handwriting and transcription skills, helping students become increasingly independent writers.

One of the highlights of the term was our Open Morning. It was wonderful to welcome so many special visitors into our classrooms. Students were incredibly proud to showcase their learning, share classroom activities and demonstrate what they love most about being part of the Concord School community. Their enthusiasm and confidence made the morning a wonderful celebration of learning.

During National Reconciliation Week, students participated in meaningful learning experiences that celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Through storytelling, discussions and creative activities, students explored the importance of respect, connection and reconciliation, deepening their understanding of Australia's rich cultural heritage.

We are incredibly proud of the growth, resilience and enthusiasm our Upper Primary students have shown throughout the term and look forward to another exciting term of learning together.
