Principal

 Dr Michael Horne

This week I’m pleased to outline a number of opportunities for parent involvement, in quite different ways, in the life of the College. I encourage you to consider one of the below, especially if you are new to the school this year; they’re fabulous ways to meet other parents and students.

Parents’ and Friends’ Annual General Meeting

The next meeting of the College Parents’ and Friends’ Association is on Monday 11 May at 12:00 pm, and is the Annual General Meeting. All parents are invited to attend to find out more about how you can contribute to upcoming P&F events and fundraisers, either as a volunteer or on the Executive Committee.

International Students Homestay

We are seeking College families who would be willing to host one or two of our international students over the King’s Birthday long weekend. Please see International Student Coordinator Penny Callinan’s note in this edition of the newsletter for further details. Opening your home is a wonderful way to share everyday Australian life, build meaningful connections, and help our international students feel welcomed and supported during their time at College.

Head of Junior School Parent Consultation Sessions

With Stephen Nelson stepping down from his position as Head of Junior School at the end of this year, we are interested in hearing the community's views on what you would ideally like to see in and from our new Head of Junior School. Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the first parent consultation session yesterday. Parents are warmly invited to attend the second session if you would like to be part of this discussion. It will be held at the Junior School next Tuesday 5 May from 2:45 – 3:15pm.

The role has been advertised in partnership with ANZUK Executive, and I am looking forward to working with prospective candidates to find the right person to lead at Myrniong.
