Senior Boys and Girls Basketball, 27th June, Cobblebank Stadium

On Friday 27th of June our Senior students went out and represented the college at the Western Ranges Division Basketball. The girls team finished the day off undefeated winning all 3 games and ending the day off with a strong win to Melton Christian College 38-6. The boys also had a strong day, likewise to the girls going undefeated and battling out the Grand final against Bacchus Marsh. Where after a thrilling game they came home with a strong victory. All in all it was a great day where all our students enjoyed their time both off and on the court.

After some tough, competitive wins in the pool games, we found ourselves in the final against Baccus Marsh.  We struggled to hit our shots early, and were down by 7 points. However after a cagey timeout from Mr Lean, we steadied, our shots dropped and we regained the lead before the half time break.  In the 2nd half we continued to play smart basketball, running away with a well deserved win.   A great bunch of passionate students, exhibiting school values like Respect and Achievement. Onto the Western Metro Regional finals at Altona Stadium in Term 3, Week 3.

A great bunch of respectful and competitive students.

AFL

On Wednesday 30th July, the Intermediate Boys AFL took to the field in the Western Metropolitan Region Semi Finals.  They had a fantastic result, beating the Maribyrnong Sports Academy 32-28!  With permission, we share this awesome report of the game from a parent (Adam Mooney) who was in attendance supporting the team (thanks Adam):

"I was watching and it was an outstanding performance by the whole team. Down by 14 points at half time, GSC combined so well as a team in the second half to score three brilliant goals and hold Marby goalless, possess the ball cleanly for long periods and win almost every one on one contest. Tackling and endeavour was superb! Fabulous coaching by Jordan Wilkins, encouraging the players and telling them that anything is possible and to believe in themselves and their team mates. Also, deft tactical moves to stifle Marby’s forward entries and set up attack so well from defence. A wonderful day in the sporting history of our school. Well done to all involved. Electrifying atmosphere when the siren went."
