Building Works Update

It has been wonderful to welcome students and staff back into our Library, Art Room and STEM Room, as well as seeing our 5/6G students move back into their upstairs classroom. Over the past two weeks, there has been plenty of activity as furniture, resources and equipment have been moved back into these spaces. While things may look a little different the next time you visit, we are excited to have refreshed learning environments that will support engaging and inspiring learning for all of our students.

A huge thank you to our staff and students for their patience, flexibility and willingness to adapt throughout the building works. We also greatly appreciate everyone's efforts in helping move furniture and resources back into the building.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our wonderful volunteers who generously gave their time to assist with the move, particularly those who helped return the library books to the shelves.

The building works have also caused some disruption to the Sunday Market and football car parking arrangements. We would like to thank everyone involved in organising these community events for their understanding, patience and flexibility throughout this period.

It has been fantastic to see these spaces come back to life and we look forward to students enjoying them for many years to come.

Parent/Carer-Teacher-Student Conferences

Parent/carer-teacher-student conferences will be held on Tuesday 18th August and Thursday 20th August, providing an opportunity for students, parents/carers and teachers to come together to celebrate learning, discuss progress and set future learning goals. Students will take the lead in sharing their learning journey and showcasing work they are proud of, with teachers facilitating the discussion.

Conference bookings can be made via Compass. If the available dates or times do not suit your family, please contact your child's classroom teacher to arrange an alternative time. If you experience any difficulties making a booking through Compass, please contact the school office on 5221 4047 and we will be happy to assist.

Please note: Students in Prep G will have their Parent/carer-teacher-student conferences on Tuesday 1st September and Thursday 3rd September, as Miss Gillett will be away on the scheduled conference dates.

For families with more than one child at South Geelong Primary School, we encourage you to avoid booking conferences in back-to-back timeslots. Allowing a short gap between appointments will help ensure you can move between classrooms without delaying the conference schedule.

We encourage all families to book a conference and look forward to celebrating your child's achievements together.

Book Fair & Book Week Dress Up

We're excited to announce that our Book Fair will be running from Tuesday 11th August to Friday 14th August.

Families are invited to visit the Library before and after school throughout the week to browse and purchase from a fantastic range of books. Every purchase helps support our school library and encourages a love of reading.

On Thursday 13th August, we will celebrate Book Week with our annual Book Character Dress Up Day and Grandparents & Special Friends Morning. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase books from the Book Fair during the morning.

This special event will also mark the grand reopening of our Library following the recent building works. We look forward to welcoming our school community back into this wonderful learning space and celebrating reading together.

We hope to see many families, grandparents and special friends join us for this exciting week of celebrations.
