Mr Jim Noble, Assistant Head of College - Boarding

As we approach the end of term, I would like to take a moment to recognise and thank Mr David Finch for his outstanding contribution to our boarding community over the past four years.

David has served as Boarding Leader of Hermitage Residence for our Year 9 students, and during this time he has demonstrated a calm approach, consistency, and genuine care in all that he does. His leadership has supported our boys to achieve strong outcomes across all aspects of school life, and his positive example has made a lasting impression on the young men in his care.

David will shortly take up an exciting new role as Head of Boys Boarding at Westminster School in Adelaide. This is a well-deserved opportunity, and while he will be greatly missed, we are proud to see him move into this next chapter of his career. I know our entire boarding community joins me in wishing David every success and happiness in the future.

Looking ahead, it is an exciting time for Marist Boarding. Later this week, we will travel to support the Alpha Cup Races, an important regional event. This occasion provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with boarding families and the wider community, as well as catch up with Old Boys who will also be attending. As one of the event’s main sponsors, the College is proud to play a role in such a significant gathering, and we look forward to a strong Marist College Ashgrove presence on the day.

There is also great anticipation building for the Confraternity Shield next week. Many of our boarders will be representing the College, and we wish them the very best as they compete. The boarding precinct will be a hive of activity, with visiting teams staying in our dormitories, having meals in our dining room, and making use of all our other facilities. It will be a wonderful opportunity to extend Marist hospitality and showcase the strength of our boarding community.

These shared experiences—whether at regional events or major school competitions—play an important role in fostering a strong sense of belonging and pride among our boys. They also reinforce the values of connection, service, and community that underpin the Marist spirit.

As the term concludes, I extend my sincere thanks to all parents, families, and staff for your continued support. Boarding is a shared partnership, and your trust and engagement are vital to the success and wellbeing of our boys.

I wish all members of our boarding community a safe, restful, and enjoyable school holiday break. I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for what promises to be a busy and productive Term 3.
